For a fresh motor, LT1 of course, what are strong numbers to have as a result of a compression test?
I found something like 180-240 is the variance but thats not accurate enough.
Anyone?

i had pretty much the same numbers on my 185k mile short block, 240 was on number 4 and 190 on number 2 the rest of the numbers were in between those numbers.

Get a compression tester.
Its a hose threaded for spark plug holes and has a gauge on it, you crank the motor over dry with the gauge in to tell you what compression your cylinders are putting out.

Record readings if you are searching for a bad cylinder and to be able to compare readings. General specs are that the lowest cylinder not be less than 70% of the highest and no cylinder less than 100 psi.
