Well i took the car to the track last night with the new cam. The cam is a 230/236 .577/.572 on a 112 with stock heads and stock intake. All mods are in sig. The temp was in the upper 90s and humidity was also upper 90s and I ran a best of 8.10 with a 1.77 60'. I am very disappointed. I have some serious tuning issues and the car was falling on its face out of the hole. Then it would pick up a bunch from half track on. My previous best before the cam was a 8.25 and I know this cam should pick me up alot more than that. I was looking for atleast a 7 second pass but oh well time to get this thing lined out and get it back to the track.

Youll get there. Once that thing gets tuned itll fly. Im going to do a lot of the same stuff to my car thats done to yours minus the 3.73s. And Im keeping stock exhaust and just putting an electric cutout on it so its quiet driving around base.

I like the idea of the exhaust. I love the sound of mine when I get on it but when I am just driving around it really sucks. Can't even hardly talk to the person in the passenger seat.

The weather wasn' t helping you much. Keep thrashing, You'll get there.
I'm interested in how it progresses. My setup is similar, I've made some changes not in my sig. I hope to get to the track this week to try it out.
I'll update soon.

I will keep you posted. Let us know how you run. I am changing plugs and wires and putting in a new tune and I am going to get my converter restalled to a 4000 or 4500. Let me know how yours turns out.

how much MPH did it pick up? The weather was killing you.

A bigger stall would help with that cam. My cam is about the same size and my converter swap from the 3K to 3800 was huge.

I am not sure on the MPH it wasn't working at the track. They couldn't get it worked out so we just agreed to run without the MPH. I ran a guy who ran a 7.51 with a and I was pulling on him on the big end.

That sucks, In my old ride on my best passes ever sprayin out of the hole, the 60ft wasnt working. Pissed me off.
Bigger stall and good weather will help a ton. My car has a similar cam and starts picking up hardcore around 3500-4k but i got a M6 so I can launch where ever i want. You need a stall to get into the rpm band for sure.

Yeah that is for sure. The Converter is holding me back. I still think it should have be around a 7.8 or 7.9 atleast and probably would have been if it wasn't for the heat and bad air. The biggest problem was on one pass it ran a 8.10 and the next pass was a 8.25. Not quite sure what that is all about.

Thanks Larry. I am trying to get something worked out and get up there so you can dyno tune it. The PCMforless mail order tune is way off. If it idles any longer than 30 seconds you can here it loading up.

no problem
Ion from MadZ28 has been doing some OBD1 stuff for us, but he is going to be very busy this summer. We are not sure if we will see him helping us out much this summer as far as dyno tunes go.

I have thought about trying to get a tune from him. I will try and see what he can do for me. Thanks Larry

You'll get it down! Hot air is a huge downer for any car..
Your 60ft seems ok, gotta be that tune..? I have a PCMForLEss tune by Bryan and I was more than satisfied with it, mines a 232/239.. Knowing your MPH would help a lot too..

I usaully go to Dyersburg, TN, Memphis, TN, Sikeston,MO or George Rays here in Paragould, AR. We are having a local meet in Newport, AR on the 31st of July. You should try and get up here.

I live in Jackson MO. I went to Dyersburg a couple of months ago and that track hooks harder than anywhere I have ever been.

Not yet. I plan on it once I get my tune lined out. How much they pay out on that race?

I have never been. Hoping you had cause I was wondering about the track and the car count.

Ya didn't say how many passes ya made, so ya might need some more runnin' for the PCM to get things straight.
The new cam has a ton of duration...
The guys at PCM-4-Less did a great job with our tune; so ya may want to talk to Brian about it; but I think you'd do well to consider updating that stall; seems a 4-600 RPM low for your new cam.
Best of luck, it'll come brother... just stay on it. No doubt we'll be hearing of the 7s very soon.

Oh I had done everything I could with Bryan and he will never touch my tune. For one he took my factory computer with a brand new LT4 knock module and sent it to somebody else that got one hell of a PCM. Then it took him to 2 months to send it to me and he send me a LT1 knock module for a b-body (checked part #) and all of this after I have had 5 tunes with him. I told him that it was running rich and he told me he wasnt going to do anything until I datalogged it. I leaved black marks from my damn exhaust so I think it could afford to be leaned and then he has the nerve to ask me for more money. MeanLT1 adjusted the tune alittle for me and the car seems to pull alot harder but been working every weekend since. I will get it figured out one way or another.

They usually have a great turn out and from what I understand they pay well. There is a great site called www.Midsouthracers.com that has alot of info on Centerville and all other surrounding tracks around here.

My good friend who I bought my car from had a similar experience with Bryan at PCMFORLESS
completely assanine customer service.
Ion offered to help him out and got him taken care of on a pcm even though my buddy wasn't even running Ion's tunes.
To me Ion is a better tuner and has better service, dont know how you can go wrong.
JMO though. A dyno tune would be ideal for ya.
Good luck man

Yeah I am going to give Ion a chance. I have chatted with him before and he is a good guy. Bryon really let me down and then he didn't even give a damn and that pisses me off. I am calling Ion tonight to see what we can work out. Yeah you are right a dyno tune would be the best but can't afford it right now.

I think I will wait until October when they have the big street car race there to make the long haul. It looks like they have a good car count then. I saw the EFI record was a 6.00. I think I can beat that. Thanks for the info.

That would be bad ass if you could. I am going to try and run this weekend sometime with the slightly updated tune and see what happens. I changed plugs and hope to see a 7 second pass.

Hey guys have some new updates. I put in some new O2s last week and ran an 8.02 but then the next pass it ran an 8.32 cutting up. I took it to my mechanic who does the stuff I can't figure out and he found that number 6 plug was shot and hasn't fired since i put them in less then 200 miles ago. The plug had a a bad electroid and after changing the plug and fixing the short in the driver side O2 extension and getting the fuel injectors lined out it is on the right track. Either next weekend or the next I will be posting a new personal best.....:metal:
