the original owner of my motor...well i'm not sure what he did but he ended up spinning 4 bearings. the lifters look good, and the motor was running (with a knock at start up) when i pulled it. What can i check on my lifters to see if they are good or not? I looked at each one and they don't have any flat spots. Would it be dumb to put them back in? I have CC push rods ( hardened) of the stock length so I didn't want to go with LS7 lifters and have to buy new push rods. We are talking about $200 or going with what i have (free). Money is getting tight towards the end of the build. car will be weekend driver/strip passes 4-5 month.

motor specs:
355 forged rods and pistons
cc503 cam
stock heads, gasket matched
intake stock gasket matched
3200 stall
30lbs injectors
pacesetter LTs
CAI
1.6s
free mods
PCM4LESS tune (planned)

you can find ls7 lifters for 130.00 or less, I would change them!

what i ment was the LS7 lifters are $130, and then i have to find longer push rods, another $130, thats $260 or use the stock lifters (free). Is there a way to tell if the stock lifters are messed up? If they were running and pumping up they should be fine?

I've run stock length pushrods with LS7 lifters for well over a year

I've been reading around sevral sites and the debate rages on if the LS7 lifter works with the stock rod length. I think i might just go with it. IS there anyone else using a stock 7.2 rod and a LS7 lifter.

The LS7 is a stock replacement as far as I know. If you go to GM and order an LT1 Lifter they will give you an LS7 lifter.
