I'm going to go to the track Friday. Then the rest of the weekend my car is going to be at Cordova as display for the JR dragster event, that they have. The track is open to the cub scouts and boy scouts. They have set up a few drag race cars to be used just to help explain what is needed to keep a car on the track and in competion for the yougsters.

On Friday I'm considering running the same jet combo that I had at the shootout. I was leaving on a .028 jet in the fogger and bringing in a .055 jet on the plate one second out. I'm sure it was noticed that the car was lazy in the 60' with only a 1.399. I was pulling all the timing out with the first kit. What I think I may try is to leave on the plate without pulling any extra timing.(I only have 27* in the motor right now) and bringing in the fogger .06 seconds out. At that time I will pull about another 13* and check the plugs and go from there. At the shoot out I was pulling 15* from the 27*.

This will be based on weather conditions and track prep. I think this will get the second kit on before the front starts to come down and should get the car to 60' low 1.3's or maybe even a 1.29? What do you guys think the car is going to run?

I will be picking up some c-16 before I hit the track this time.

good luck

I would pull more timing and run a leaner A/F. The fast cars all seem to be very low timing and mid to high 12's on the gun. We have been running cars leaner and less timing and they have been working well.

If you know what I was jetted at you would think I'm lean. I was only running 13* timing at the the shootout. I think with better fuel I can add a little more. But I think I may need to pull a little more fuel out of it.

The tune

fogger .028n .022f with 5 psi of fuel
plate .055n .048f with 4.5psi of fuel
950psi bottle pressure

With the weather the way it is it looks like it could rain any second I don't think I'm going to make it.

I have a wideband(currently I need a replacement O2) and a data logger in the car. I don't mind seeing high 12's or better yet low 13's. My goal is to get the plugs as clean as possible. I use an optiscope to look down inside of the plugs. I don't want to see any fuel ring, and may make a couple passes on them. If there is a ring the goal is as light as possible. Another tuning option is to moniter the crank case vacuum, if you have one. If you get any ring flutter you will lose vacuum and need to pull more timing. I check the crank case catch call after each pass and it will also so the same signs as the vacuum gauge. If I maintain good vacuum there is never more then a drop or two of oil. If it fills up with oil the rings are fluttering from detination. I saw that a few weeks ago making motor passes. I was having carb problems.
