Anybody weld up there diff instead of buying a new one or replacing the entire rear end altogether?
Mine is peg legging really bad and id much rather not dump $3000 into a new rear end (Canada, boo :( ) at this time. Not to sure about just replacing the posi either, im not sure how long it would last with the way i drive it hehe, thats the 2nd cheapest option right now
The only thing that concerns me is that i daily drive the car, im wondering how bad it would be around corners?
Any advice is welcome, thanks in advance!

you had better have a good welder weld it for you. if the welds aren't good and it comes apart you are in for a world of hurt.
i had a buddy that had one welded and it lasted a few years and i kept after him to let me check it for him and possibly weld it better of more if it was needed. he waited too long and it came apart on the highway and the car made a quick left turn and sent him into the median. luckly he wasn't hurt and there was no cars next to him when it happened.
i wouldn't do it. its not safe at all. if it breaks you will make a hard left or right depending on which wheel/axle locks up.

Just dont do it! Its a dissaster waiting to happen. A sppol on the street is bad enough, but can be dealt with if you drive very carefully and dont care about wearing tires faster than usual.
With a welded diff, you have all the negatives of running a spool without the added strength. Evertime you launch it or take a herd turnd would be like yanking on a hand grenade pin (wow, thats how I feel everytime I drop the hammer on the stock 10 bolt, lol)

Eh it was more or less an idea i was throwing around. Maybe ill just suck it up and put a lil money away each month and have it for next year.
The welding i wouldnt be too worried about, my dad has his tickets for it so, hehe.
Just pisses me off when im in the water box at the track and it spins both for like 2 seconds then peg legs out of the box.

re shim it, i think you can use 10 or 12 bolt pinion shims to restore it back if you have a auburn... i did mine a few years back then i got a 12 bolt and the HD eaton in that did the same thing :( so i bought a 9"
