Well, on Wednesday I had to put my dog, Hooch (yes just as in the movie) down due to a turned stomach. He started acting weird on Monday my wife said but when I got home he seemed just fine so I thought nothing of it. By the time I got home on Tues and figured out he hadn't gotten off the floor yet I satrted to check him out and his hind leg and paw was sowlen...He was a Dogue de Bordeux or French Mastiff. He broke all the rules for his bread. He weighted around 150lbs most of his life and towered over other dogs. He made it to 12 years old on the vets estimated 8-10 years. He loved people unless you missed with me and protected the house and family well.
He is sorely missed and thought of a lot these past few days.
I normally wouldn't post this crap on here but I figured it would help the healing process...here are a couple of old pics I found today...

That sucks to hear man.........
Non-pet people just can't understand how close we are to our pets. They are family through and through. Go adopt another little guy!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. I have had other pets when I was younger but no other dog was as loyal as Hooch was. This really is more like a family loss than I every thought it would be.

Sorry to hear man, dogs are always part of the family too. Any other dogs in your family (or pets, for that matter) that will be missing a friend too?

Sorryu to hear about that. I lost my dog a couple yrs ago. It was one of the toughest times and no other way to explain it other than saying it sucks. I haven't gotten another dog since because I don't think I could handle going through it again. Keep ur head up.

My condolences. That's a tough situation. Good lookin' dog for sure. I have a Bull Mastiff and Cane Corso (Italian breed). Always had a thing for the Mastiffs.

Sorry to hear Chris. I know what it's like, we let our dog of 9+ years (we adopted her from the pound when she was ~3) go this morning. She hadn't ate anything since Thursday, so it was time to end her suffering.
RIP Sheeba (Pic is ~6 years old... we had just moved in to the new house so excuse the mess.)

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. I know how you feel man. It sucks. I lost my best friend about 3 years ago too. I grew up with my German Shepard and had him since I was little. He was family, and I was devistated when he died. Its takes time getting used to. We had him creamated and I made a collage of of pictures thats on the wall over his ashes. That really helped me get through it. It allowed me think and remember all the fun we had with him, and just brings back good memories.

Same here. Real sorry for your loss. My mom lost a dog. And boy did it hurt me. I really loved that dog she had.
