Well, I have to admitt that after watching the LTX vid I have a hole new respect for guys dragging with 6 speeds. I was playing around over @ youtube the other day and was watching some of the vids that have Taner's car. I'm super impressed and I was wondering if Taner (and others with 6speeds) would mind giving me some pointers.
Obviously Taner doesn't have a run of the mill "mill" but I would like some pointers on what I should/could do to make my car competitive, what parts to avoid, etc, etc.
I hope this doesn't sound too generic, I guess I'm kinda envious and would appreciate any advice you have to throw at me.

Gearing. LOTS of gearing to really get a six speed to 60 foot.

o.k. guys, I've been wondering how the 2 step works and how would I hook it up? Would any of you guys care to explain this one to me? I've got the tires. need a good rear, thinkn a fab type 9" and a good clutch for good power, I'm sure I'll kill it when the power goes up.
and yes, consistancy is what I'm looking for. I'M pretty sure the 2 step will help with that.

A 2-step is basically a secondary rev limiter, nothing more. Get you an MSD Digital 6 Plus and use either a stretch cord or a button on your shifter to activate the 2-step. As far as wiring it in, just apply +12v to the blue wire on the MSD to activate the 2-step.
For example, set the 2-step RPM limit to 5K RPM. When you get the car staged, push and hold the button then engage the clutch pedal and floor the gas pedal. The RPM's should now be holding right at 5K. Let go of the button and dump the clutch simultaneously when it's time to go. That's it. I'm sure there are a ton of different ways to do it, but this is how I've got mine setup.
This is my car on the 2-step. You will hear it stutter when the 2-step is activated. I'm still working on my launches too but I can tell you that the 2-step helps especially since I couldn't use it at the shootout per the class rules.

Not sure man. You could always give the Dynaspark a try before converting.

Kyle what 2-step are you using? I want one but not sure what to buy? Also is there a way to make it disengage by just dumping the clutch instead of letting go of the button at the same time?

I'm using the MSD Digital 6 which has a built-in 2-step.
There may very well be a way to do it using the clutch pedal, but I'm just not sure how. If you put it on the clutch pedal, what would keep you from re-activating it when you shift?

You have to wire it up to a switch. So, when you at the track, turn your switch on, and that'll power the 2-step. Once you leave the track, turn the switch off, and then you wont activate the 2-step on the street...BUT, i dont know the exact details, of what to wire, how, etc. But I can find out :) i know a guy.

I'm using an MSD 6AL box with a stand alone 2 step. Mines wired into a momentary button on my shifter with the line locks. The 2 step is on a toggle switch after the momentary button on the shifter. This way I set my 2 step a XXXX rpm and leave the toggle off. Pull into the water box set the line locks and do my burnout since the toggle is off my 2 step doesn't engage while doing a burnout. After the burnout turn the toggle on, prestage and lightly tap the brake. Push the monentary button and "bump" the car into the staging beam (line locks set just enough to keep the car from rolling). Now the line locks and 2 step are activated, wait for the tree and release the button and clutch! BTW I have a 3000 to 5200 rpm slector plugged into my 2 step to avoid changing "pills" for launch rpm. If you get the digital 6 with the 2 step built in you adjust rpm with two dials in 100 rpm incriments on the side of the box. Pics of my setup are in my gallery, MSD is on the passenger side of the trans tunnel.

i also rock a msd 6al with the msd stand alone 2 step. mines setup through a push button shifter knob (sidewinder). u can use the clutch pedal to engage and disengage with a relay. i was gonna do this but since i 2 step high 5500-6000 depending on track conditions i dont need to. i dropped .21 with using a 2 step. its a must if ur a 6 speed owner imo

has anyone used a line lock in the clutch hydros along with a 2 step? i have been thinking about this for a long time now just haven't dove into it yet.
you could pull up to the line hit the button for the line loc and 2 step, let off the clutch and hammer the gas. then once the button is released you are gone.

Hmm... so the Digital 6 plus is all I need?
I read some where, setting it up with the clutch switch can actually help since it momentarly kills the power making WOT shifts easier. Dont know how true that is?????

I don't know if that would work and I definitely wouldn't trust it on nitrous. I've seen tons of people with the 2-step button on the steering wheel, shifter and stretch cord...just like a trans-brake. Watch SW use the 2-step (left thumb on the steering wheel) in his supra...

But yeah, the Digital 6 Plus is all you need man.

is there any thing else I need to set it up, ie... harness/button to activate it etc? Lets see what kind of button set ups you all got. I really like the steering wheel idea.
Oh and do I need a line lock also????
