Right now, I've got 103K miles on the car and I'm still in college. Don't get me wrong though, my car was very well taken care of, runs amazing, and was mine when it had 58K miles. Anyways, I want a power adder and have always been interested in nitrous, but lately have been looking into boost. I'm not looking for huge numbers or anything, just something to have a little fun with before I have time to do a build with a better budget. I believe a supercharger would be ideal for me. However, I'm new to the boost world and don't know what to look for.
Or do you guys think I should just stick with nitrous?

Well, unless you plan to include the supercharger in your later/greater build, I'd suggest stick with nitrous. But if you're really gonna do a better build later, then go ahead and boost it!

Make sure you keep it low though, I'd suggest about 6 psi. These are high compression engines, so you really can't safely boost it too much without issues.

If you're gonna build it later and include the super, drop compression to around 9:1. ;)

well it will probably cost ya a couple grand to do a supercharger. i would probably take that money and start your build. your gonna spend it anyway so do it right. you can buy some bad ass heads intake and cam and still have money left over and have over 400rwhp. or you could buy a motor already built for that kinda money. just me though.

That's exactly what I did. My car had 30k miles, and blew the ringlands. @8psi I made 406/413 and lasted 5 months before the ringlands went. If anything, take the money you would be spending on a blower, and build the engine first. If you decide you still want to go with a blower, get an e-vac setup to help prevent the ringlands from going.

If you are going to buy a supercharger, take it from me and piece it together. Don't buy a kit. You will be spending almost another 2 grand more for pieces you don't need.

approximately how much would a 6psi kit cost?

depends on if you found it new or used, the amount of boost on the blower is simply a pulley swap difference. But regardless I think you might be better off saving the money for a better motor, especially if the lt1 is your DD.

um.. new
i was just referring to whether or not people went with aftermarket fuel pumps, inj, fpr's with 6psi

You're definitely going to want at least a single 255 pump with around 30-42lb injectors (preferably the higher so you have the ability to tune them down rather than having to crank them up). Stock regulator would be fine.

+1

I used that same exact setup with 44# injectors, ran great. I will have them for sale soon if you're interested.

so pretty much.. on a stock motor
nitrous is more likely to be safer creating the same numbers than boost
-because of a more limited budget right now

If set up correctly and tuned correctly, yes nitrous will be just as effective as boost and it comes with an on off switch :).

But remember, in the long run you will have paid a good amount for the nitrous also, depending on how much you use it and have to refill it.

A vortech kit will cost yu a little over 4 grand. And pulleys are 80 bucks a piece. If you buy seperate parts you could probably put a kit together for closer to 2 grand. Buy somebodies used kit for around 17 or 1800 and just put on the parts you need.

I just put a vortech on mine. I bought the bulk of the kit for $1200, then the inline fuel pump was $200 the crank pully is $180, belt was $20, then you will need a tune so $500-$550 from a shop or you can do it yourself, its a lot harder then you think. JET DST was $375 and thats what you would use to tune the car and Proscan was $169 thats so you car scan/log your car, than any gauges you might want. the AEM wideband im getting is about $200, plus any vac or air hoses you might need to get. it just adds up realy fast. im pretty close to about $2500 total
