View Full Version : What color to powdercoat???

Ok well I found a place local to me that will powder coat my wheels for $45 a wheel so thats what I'm doing. Now I just need to figure out the color what I want...
Car is the one in my sig, Black T/A with TT2's, Ram Air hood with a black bird stripe of either gunmetal or Matte black. I would like to find some kind of "black chrome" but the colors I see taht are called that look like gunmetal to me. :hmm:

Now throw me some suggestions on powder coat colors. Preferably an actual name of the color and a place to get it. Any pictures would also be greatly appreciated.

I would leave them polished man. Everyone does black wheels on black.. I mean I know everyone has the polished too but I think it looks better. Black wheels to me just look dirty.. But that is just my .02 cents man

Yeah I kind of agree with the dirty look. I have a picture in my head of what I want them to look like, I don't think it would look dirty. But I don't think it is possible to get them the way I want them. haha.

Put a red pinstripe around the edge. If your gonna go black that is.

Well it would be black centers with the polished lip and then the little center thing, center cap maybe????, would also still be polished.

go black :) i did.. looks not so good in pictures.. but in real life its not too bad.. :)

I like the style of this, the color is not really what I'm looking for and my center caps would also be left polished.

my centercaps are polished now. i just didne have a current pic. ive changed them so many times lol. my are rattle canned too

haha. You should try to get me a current picture of them if you can. Not that I'm going to use it, but how well does rattle can paint stay on them?

I voted polished but I may be a little impartial because I almost bought a black '95 TA and I wanted polished TTII's and a WS6 Hood on it. :cool:

Well when I get my car back on Tuesday with my WS6 hood and polished TTII's maybe it will grow on me. This has been about the longest weekend ever without having the car...

Haha, your gonna make me want to sell my SS.

Not really, but I do wish that I had been able to test drive a clean '96 Arctic White WS6 M6 I found before my SS. I went down to look at it and it started pouring rain and I didn't feel like taking another mans possession (read: RWD 305hp F-Body) out in the rain. Called him back on Monday and he had a deposit down on it. :(

You'd be crazy to sell the SS I love the look of the White Fbody's, nothing better then a white a LT1 SS or LT1 WS6.

That made me decide to keep them polished...that car looks damn good. Next purchase is to get some lowering springs. Thanks for the opinions guys.
