Are there any good alternatives to the stock ram air box? I was thinking about maybe taking an ls1 lid and turning it upside down, or using a stock ls1 ws6 base and lid since there's a taller inlet gap on the front, or the volant cai for the ls1's like this http://store.summitracing.com/largeimage.asp?part=VNT-15958C3&Prod=Volant+Cool+Air+Intakes+without+Air+Box&img=vnt-15958c3_w.jpg

if you want ram air, i'd just keep an eye out for an oem box. i guess i got extremely lucky with mine since i paid $115 shipped with a K&N and the MAF to TB bellow for an unmolested box and i saw one with just the upper/lower box pieces go for $285 on ebay a few weeks ago (thats only $22.51 less than i paid for my oem hood :jest: ) My advice is to search google, you might get lucky (thats how i found mine)

"PipesTA" has one that I was looking at a few months back. He only has the airbox, send him a PM. Think he wanted $40 for it. And he does still have it, I was talking to him about it last week I think.

i wasn't even sure if i was going to get the box for the hood, but i knew i wanted one, and when i saw that dude having trouble selling his box for $150 and then dropped it to $100, i grabbed it. i would have paid $165 shipped for it if he hadn't dropped the price to $100+ shipping, i didn't realize how pricey those boxes are even used.

Definitely a good buy! I paid $175 just for the box and a filter.

thats not a bad buy either. FWIW i was originally only getting the box and filter for $115 but then i asked him about the MAF to TB piece and he said he thought he had one and if he did he'd throw it in the box before he shipped. and sure enough, he found an oem piece. I also got the box to MAF piece but it looked like the same piece as my oen one and my oem one was in slightly better shape so i used it on there and sold the other piece with my stock box for $60 shipped. i mainly got the $60 because of the black trickflow elbow i had put on the summer before but i didn't want to separate everything and everyone kept offering me around $40 for the TF elbow and finally someone said they'd pay $60 shipped for everything (i was asking $60+ shipping iirc) so i sold it to him instead.

coincidently i used the box the ram air came in to ship out the oem intake stuff so i didn't have to find another box, lol.

I didn't even think about the shoot out, thanks huff about the heads up on pypes, I'll send him a message here soon, I had judt missed out on getting a air box from someone off of camaroz28 and it came from a silver ws6 that got totaled and he was asking only 40 for it, hope we're not talking about the same person. Thanks for posting that pic chris, that doesn't look like it will fit under a stock style ws6 hood. If I can't find a box I think I'm just going to find a cheap ls1 lid and turn it upside down and see it I can make it work. If I could get that to seall up, it would pretty much be the same as the stock piece wouldn't it? Thanks for all the responses guys, oh and BLK95TA, I hate you, lol.

Well I just talked to him last week about it, he didn't seem to be advertising it but I'm not 100% sure. I bet he still has it.
