both the front brakes seem to always be locked (about 30%) when driving the car. now when applying the brake pedal hard it often gets to sticking worse but eventually loosens up and goes back to 30% sticking. pads are new, rotors have 69k on em. any idea's?

Could be bad calipers.. I had a front left locked up partially about 2 years ago. Had a shop rebuild the caliper and it's been fine since

Rebuild the calipers and put new hoses on the car or just replace them all together if you dont want to disassemble the caliper

I was just gonna say Ill bet you have a spare pair around. I dont think thats the prob, since its both fronts. Maybe swap to some used pads, the new ones could be too thick

Sounds like bad rubber front brake hoses. Would be a good idea to upgrade to braided lines if you are going to replace them anyway.

Mine stick pretty bad as well, as a matter of fact when I try to spin the tire, it maybe gets a 1/4 turn at best. Any ideas?

I had the exact same thing happen on my old Dodge. Couldn't get the brakes to bleed, and they would lock and stick for a few hours.

Often overlooked are the caliper pins/bolts.
I always pull mine completly out, clean the bolts with some red scotchbrite, clean out the inside bore of the bolt holes, the I lube the bolts and insides with a very good antisieze. This lets the caliper slide freely on the mounting bolts.
I don't know if this is your problem, but this is what I find in 90% of the brake jobs I do.
Good luck

hmmm, i would question the line lock if thats the case. and... hoses couldnt cause it unless they were clogged with something. most if the time (barring a line lock..) its the pistons sticking in the calipers due to corrosion.

Just saying brake lines will swell up and like rust from the inside out where the fittings are. When this happens. It makes more of a one way check valve. Alllows the fluid to go to the caliper but no out the greatest. Since there is more pressure going to the caliper. My dd had sticking brakes. Changed everything and still did it. Well some looser decided to slam on his brakes in front of me on day. When I did my passenger side brake line busted.
Lucky I had enough room on the side of the road to keep going till I stopped. When I took it off. What I thought was the brake line made that way was it swelled and rusted by the fitting. Not really rust inside out on rubber lines. Hard to explain.
But the lines were my problem. It was also the front. You may want to look into the abs module. As my back breaks on my dd gets to much pressure and it is the cause for some reason.

A lot of LT1 do this...probably spindle and brake related. With upgraded spindles and brakes (IE LS1 swap) seems to fixes the problem.

glad I saw this before I posted, mine started doing the same thing tonight.
Edit: I have since discovered that it was the rear brakes and I was missing a caliper mounting bolt on either side.

Stuck calipers. It's common for our cars. They are probably original and have well over 100,000 miles on them. I just had my right front replaced, it was $60-$70 iirc.
