And I stopped by the machine shop this morning and found that my 383 shortblock is pretty much done.
Just need to set the crank key and degree the cam.

T4P heads?
No, T4P is Bret Bauer's new venture. (I'm not sure who else is involved)
They do make a nice set of CNCed heads, which is actually what turned me
on to the Dart castings to begin with. I don't think they were available for sale at the time.
These heads are Hand Ported by Lloyd Elliott.
I had a set of naked Dart Pro 1 180cc castings ordered from Summit and Lloyd took
care of the rest (porting, milling, assembly). I'm quite happy with the results.
Post more pics on the port job!
Of course LOL ...

Good looking heads/setup man!!! What kind of numbers are you shooting for?
Looking for low 11s N/A without gutting my car, I kind like my AC and interior LOL.
It's hard to gauge since there aren't a whole lot of similar setups out there.
Should be at least 70-75rwhp over my old setup (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2297151/4). I managed a best of 11.89 @ 113 with that combo.
This one will be little smaller than Tony's old 396 HR build and he managed 479 though a built TH400 and 9in.
I'd love to shoot for 10s NA, we'll see where I end up with this setup and go from there.
Being able to rev higher and take advantage of the power made above 6000RPM should be very helpful.
We picked a cam that was aggressive enough to put down respectable numbers at the track
but still left enough down low that the car doesn't surge while driving around town or on the freeway.
The heads look sweet, now get the short block and try to avoid getting pulled over this time!:laugh:
LOL, gee thanks.
You know they came to visit me one night while I was swapping parts from
the Hawk to the Tbird in the shop's parking lot. Fortunately, it was only one
officer and he was somewhat nicer than the others were.
Got any flow #'s after the porting?
Yup, they came in around 299 @ .600" and 304 @ .700. 12% more than my LE heads did.
About the right size for what I am doing. Not too big or too small.
Probably could have got more out of them using an LT4 intake (taller ports)
But I didn't see much point in spending that kind of cash on an LT4 intake
and I certainly didn't want that Edelbrock thing on my car with it's tiny plenum.
Maybe someday if I decide to do a single-plane, I'll have them enlarged.
The pushrod geometry is similar on these heads to typical GM castings, so
you really can't make the port any wider. That's something I didn't realize
about the Darts when I picked them over the Trickflows. Oh well.
FWIW, I plotted graphs to compare these to flow on other ported aftermarket castings.
The numbers come in about the same from almost every vendor LOL
The's a whole rant about not racing flowbenches in here somewhere. :p
I bet you're excited!!
Just a little ... LOL This will be my last big engine upgrade for a while, lots of work, lots of
stress but it should be a blast to drive when it's done. The machine shop owner
reminded me today that everyone is always upset when they sign the check
but that feeling goes away as soon as they mash their foot into the carpet.
And because it was built right, they'll have many years of smiles to look forward to.
I'll pick up the shortblock early next week, I'm in the process of hunting
down an engine hoist to borrow so I can get the old one out and finish
assembling on my own.
I ordered mu exhaust tubing tonight, I'll get the exhaust guy started on TDs
once I have the engine in the car and the headers bolted up.

What size intakes are installed in the Darts and the combustion chamber size? Additionally, what cam are you going with, along with the springs you selected?
The heads look really nice! I dropped my AFRs off with Lloyd last weekend.

I know stock they come with 2.02 intake valves and combustion chamber is 58cc, unless you go with the 62/64cc head. These are off the shelf form. Who knows what his specs might be lol

Here's what they look like off the shelf (190cc intake ports).. Lloyd did a damn good job porting your heads dude

The stock intake ports were 180cc IIRC.
They are now 2.1" tall, I don't know what the volume is, I'll ask next time I talk to him.
I had the combustion chamber milled to 56cc to keep the geometry right for
optimal quench and static compression requirements of this cam.
I had Bret Bauer grind me a custom billet cam to match my setup and application.
It's a little bigger than a LE3, and set up to maintain streetability but still
put down respectable numbers at the track. 23x/24x (closer to 24x/25x really)
with a very low LSA and high lift (typical Bret design).
I'm running Patriot Gold Extreme Springs to handle the aggressive lobes.
They have plenty of seat pressure and a great reputation for lasting.
Build details are at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2297151/6

I had Lloyd improve the valve job and enlarge the intake to 2.055".
Also milled to bring CC volume to 56cc.

Thanks, I'm very happy with the results.
He also reported my intake manifold to flow a little better than what he had done for me a few years back.

I have another LT1 from a B-body car I have had for years I was thinking of doing forged pistons and rods (355) and a blower w/LE heads and cam.
I just don't know yet.
