95 trans am had a little hesitation starting when i first bought the car and one day in the drive thru at wataburger i turn it off it was gettin a lil hot. went to start it just cranks never fired checked the wires no spark at the plug took off all the stuff to get to the opti all the points and rotor were all goo from corosion changed the opti cap and rotor. ran like a champ next day wont start, i turn the key forward fuel pump primes and it starts to go on off on off and my tach is jumping from 7000 to 0 and so on and wont turn on if it does it will cut right away. already checked the connectors for the opti and the icm. could it be the pump or my pcm is fryed anybody ever hear of this

Which brand opti did you use as a replacement?
Sounds like you got a bad part...

i did some electrical testing im only getting like .3 of a volt from pcm to coil and on testing the distrib at term A im getting 25v dc and term D only .8 of a volt

sounds like my current problem only mine starts now everyone i talk to has said not to even bother buying a cap and rotor its a waist you probably have a bad optic eye or you may have snapped the rotor off thats what happened to mine. If you sand down the vains in the cap the rotor shouldnt break again but check every link i could be wrong these cars can be unpredictable

Never a good idea to open an opti. I don't think that's your issue though with your tach going crazy. Have you checked your engine grounds for shorts or corrosion or fluid getting in them?? Swapped in a spare ICM by chance?
