try playing with the wires while its on and see if you can find the one thats doing it.maybe you can narrow it down a little..is the bulb good and tight? pull bulb out and look for any corrosion down in the socket.start with the bulb and work back

I had the same problem on mine. The bulb looked fine and worked most of the time but the wires in the bulb were bad. Have you replaced the bulb? I would try that and like previous stated wiggle the wires and see if it goes off.

it's probably the wiring harness. when i got my T/A it would do random stuff like that. i'd hit the brakes and the whole drivers side taillight would shut off. or i'd turn on the right turn signal and one of the lights on the left side would get brighter. one time i think my fog lights even came on when i turned on the right blinker. my taillights also always blinked sequentially instead of at the same time, like the right blinker would blink the inner and then outer light instead of both at the same time. i called a place in miami (was living in pompano beach at the time) and they told me my wiring harness was probably shot. i bought a used LS1 style taillight wiring harness for $35 or so with bulbs and haven't had a problem in 4 years other than one or 2 of the used bulbs i got with the harness burned out but since they were used bulbs that was expected and a new bulb fixed it right up. IIRC they went from the screw in 2057? to the pop in 3057 in 1997 or 1998. those early harnesses with the push in and turn bulbs are notorious for having issues and thats why GM changed to the pop in style bulb later.

When I bought my car the light sockets were rusted out the rusted back into the wire harness. I did the same and soldered in another harness from an LS1 car.

Check your fuses along with any relays that might be incorporated with the electrical system. A relay can be broken but work only under power, it will jump the gap in the switch and activate. I had the heater switch relay go bad in my Grand Prix and it would work on and off but only on the highest setting.

x2 I had relays that went out on my EWP and they would work on and off

Sorry to bring this back up but for those of you who replaced the taillight harness, Where did you cut/unplug it from?
Mine is having issues right now and need to get it fixed before I get pulled over for it.

theres a plug on the right side of the car, and a plug on the left. you must remove both taillights and the center section and you might have to play around with the wires to get them out from under the top lip of the bumper. it took me about 10 minutes (because i lost one of the little wingnuts down behind the carpet and had to look for it) from start to finish. it was pretty easy. the 98-02 harness is a direct swap on a 93-97, no cutting of wires whatsoever.

I got one from www.tacreationsusa.com (http://www.tacreationsusa.com) about 4 years ago for ~ $35 with used bulbs for all lights except the outer ones which they didn't have any but i had replaced mine only a few months earlier and the outer ones are interchangeable betwen the older and newer harness.. I lived down in ft lauderdale at the time and drove down there. i actually installed the new harness in the parking lot.

it's been posted before, but, OP... Check the fuse and bulb for starters. LMK if your blowing a fuse or not as that'll help narrow the problem down.
