So I want an LT but can't get it just yet, so we added a suprise to my V6 Auto Monte Carlo...80 shot for fun. We decided an older auto V6 stang needed a beating and I was the slower of our group that night, which is fine by me for now lol. I wasn't even gonna spray, its an auto I can beat him normally. So we go from a dig, I beat him, he gets pissy makes an excuse and we go again...I sprayed, it was buses and we all laughed.

So on the way back the impala of his group (which I believe is an LT)...yeah it was an auto too. I figured 'oh crap an LT1' and I think its the supercharged one...ok so Im gonna get a beating but lets have some fun, he pulls and and starts peddling me and I dropped it to 2nd at 60 (its a 3 speed auto lol 2nd is to 100) and I guess he thought that was me going becuase my passenger said he was going so I took off and sprayed to 100 destroying him and he got me on the ricer flyby doing 130 lol. My limiter is 107.

Was that an LT my buddy says so but I shouldn't have beaten him as bad if it was. Or was that the fact of an auto?

I think all impalas had lt-1s, but the earlier caprices had the tbi 5.7 instead of the Lt-1

there was a smaller version of the lt1 they put in some of those cars i think. It was a 4.8 or something...

Yeah, all of them, and the Fleetwoods and such got the iron headed LT1.

I've never heard of a 4.8 LT1, ever. nope.

Here you go.

L99 (4.3L)
A 4.3 L version of the LT1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_LT_engine#LT1), designated the L99, was introduced in 1994 for the Chevrolet Caprice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Caprice). It was externally identical to the LT1, but the bore was reduced to 3.736 inches and the stroke to 3.00 inches giving it a displacement of 263 CID (similar to the late sixties Chevrolet 302 used in the first-generation Camaro Z28s). The pistons used in the L99 were the same as the ones used in the Vortec 5000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Vortec_engine#5000) with the use of 5.94" connecting rods.
Like the LT1, it features sequential fuel injection (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_injection), reverse cooling (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Reverse_cooling&action=edit&redlink=1), and an optical crank position sensor. Output is 200 hp (150 kW) and 245 lb·ft (332 N·m).
Due to its smaller displacement, it provides better fuel economy over the 5.7 L LT1.

wow no chit. I never even knew about that.

Why the hell did GM even bother? Mediocre power and fuel economy compared to their 4.3 V6. Weird
