Ok long story short I bought a car that came with LT1 Edit supposedly.

Now the cable he gave me is the OBDII Style connector (Car is a 95 so it has that connector) but it goes to parallel... to which he connected a parallel to serial and I have put on my serial to usb. Way to many changes but at this point I wanted to try what he gave me.

Now when I unzipped the LT1 edit install program he sent me it has 2 Vins... both do not match my vin. However the Car was an auto and converted to a manual. I figure that could be the reason... maybe.

My Serial to USB works great as I have been using it to tune my Megasquirted car no problems. But windows identified the LT1 Edit cable or the car itself as a mouse.... so either I am missing drivers or this cable is the problem or snake connection of cables lol.

I have an Autoxray and it comes with an OBDII Cable that goes to an ethernet style connector. I could try that next.

So I need some help on what to do here. The prior owner claims he changed the idle and it worked for him. I am finding issues, so some help to get on the right track would be great.

Thanks

It's most likely because of all the adapters. Carputing (the company that makes it) wont help unless you pay them for support as well. I paid support and they sent me the newest version of the software. That ended up being the charm and fixed all my problems.

The cable itself will have a VIN number that it's locked to. To unlock it requires sending it back to Carputing and paying for a new license. You wont be able to tell which cable you have untill you can get the computer to recognize it as something other than a mouse. The problem with the computer seeing it as a mouse is most likely because of your myriad of adapters. Try using just one adapter first. Then see if you can get someone to email you a copy of the newest software version.

Alright so some help with the newest version of the software if anyone could. My version appears to be:
V2.2

Since I have to use the cable they sent me I will see if I can find a parallel to USB connector.

Your best bet is going to find out from Carputing what the newest version is. Let us know how you make out with the parallel to USB converter.

I was just looking at the Trifecta site and they are using the same connector to connect to the original Parallel OBDII Cable I have....

Maybe it is the extra but I am wondering if there is a driver I am missing or if just getting a Parallel to USB would be better. (If it even exists)

You can get a parallel to USB, just dont get the Radio Shack branded ones. I tried them all with absolutely no luck. I ended up getting an "IO Gear" one from Staples or Office Depot that has worked flawlessly with every system Ive tried.

Are you on XP or Vista? Hopefully not Vista, because its likely that it will not ever work for you. My Vista equipped laptop gives me fits even with programs that are supposed to work with it.
