keeps breaking

I keep breaking starters. I'm on my fourth one this month. Why would this happen??? I have pulled the inspection cover to visually check it is lined up right. I can also turn the motor over by hand. Is there any way to check to see if I have an injector leaking into a cylinder? Thats the only thing I can think of.

What's breaking with them?? Is the motor suddenly stopping while you're cranking it?

Yeah, a better description of what is actually breaking would help much.

What kind of starters are you buying also, Delco or aftermarket?

im in the same situation,there arent breaking im just getting the shitty autozone one,next time im going to the chevy dealer(never thought id ever say that!)

the housing that the shaft slides into before it engages keeps breaking off. I had one break off when the motor got hydro locked. i replaced that one and it got 300 miles and 3 dozen starts befor i went out this morning and it was broken. before i did my cam swap i had no problems. why now all of a sudden?

I think its fixed. i went to a heavy duty starter i think the one i got from billy was starting to go. no problems on this last one though.
