I have manual brakes on my car. It is stopping fine from 130mph. The pedal is real firm. No air and it is not spongy like I here others say. I will say if you haven't driven a car with manual brakes you will be in for a surprize.

Sorry, I don't know what manual brakes means. Is that just mean not have 'power brakes'? Why would one want manual brakes? Does it save power or something?

It just means you removed the vacumn assist. You only save about 5-9 pounds but the reason that most people do it is with a large duration cam in the motor you don't produce enough vacumn to help slow the car down.

Well thats a subject that has got me kicked off a board once or twice. :) I made my bracket out of a billet aluminum, on a cnc mill, and use the strange master cylinder.

Thats a nice setup Jake!!

I was up late looking it over. I put a new setup in the car and with the new cam...its been just scary at times coming to a stop as the brakes hit the floor:|, always have to pump them, its been a PITA so far. I almost dont even want to take it to the track with these brakes:(.

Well this setup on my car I've had no problems with the pedel being soft or spongy. Those two conditions are most likely do to still having air in the lines. If your cam is creating the required vacuum to operate the brake booster I would keep it in a steet car. But if the cam has a large duration that you loose the vacuum you are better off by getting rid of the brake booster.

The pedel if stiff but if you ever drove an old car with manual brakes before you know what it is like. My car will even see some street action next year. :)

If I can drive without power steering and AC I'm sure I can handle manual brakes... if not, my dad says I'm gonna have to learn to love manual brakes :D
