So I'm trying to do my wires. I've got pictures of the routing and all that . . . My question is . . . Is there some trick to getting these stinking boots on I've tried oil, grease, silicone grease it's like the boots are to small for the wires . . . driving me nuts.
Anybody got a magic trick . . . . or am I just being a puss

LOTS of dielectric grease. I put some on a screwdriver and slipped it inside the boot to grease up the inside. The more grease on there, the easier it is.

Yeah they're a pita, and yes they are smaller, the boots are for 7mm wires. Like said above just use plenty of dielectric grease. I now use the msd wires that already have the opti ends and boots just have to put the spark plug ends on and they're much easier.

Make sure your hands don't have any of the grease on them though, grab a rag to push both the boot and wire together. I loved my Taylor's, with the MSD tool it doesn't take long at all to make them.

I tried grease and oil and silicone spray also and it took me forever . Then I tried wd40 and it worked great I did the remaining 7 wires in the time it took me to do the 1st one. Coat everything down good then keep spraying them as you are working on them. I dont know why wd40 worked so much better than the silicone spray but it did!

Sigh I have a much better suggestion :)

Boil the boots in water and keep them in there until you're about to put one on. Use needle nose pliers inside of the boot to stratch it outwards.

I'm not sure I like the idea of soaking ignition parts in water. But to each their own.

As to using WD-40, it might work, but the dielectric grease acts as a sealant once it gets trapped between the boot and wire, keeping out the elements. MSD instructions call for using it, so that's what I used.

dielectric works, wd40 works too. I use whichever I have on me with equal results.

It's a rubber boot, it repels water.. it is not as if water soaks into it.. you realize stuff like wd40 is flammable right? So spraying down inigiton parts with a flammable product sounds a lot more risky than boiling it in water
