Well this is my 1st real post here not including my intro, hope yall can help :peace2:
Ill be changing out the opti next week, but in the mean time im getting everything out the way.ill be taking off the water pump and watever else get in my way.Ill most likely be getting the GM opti since the MSD is a lil bit to much. Is it really a pain swapping them out??? I dont really mine the work it takes to get to the opti but it seems if a bunch of people make it seem like hell when installing one.
I also want to remove the AIR PUMP system. When removing this system what all do i have to take into consideration. Is it just a removal, is it necessary, will i need a tune after words, will i have to seal up any holes?? I also have the AIR/ EGR headers what can i use to seal up the AIR dels coming out the headers.

hey man, what year car do you have? if it is a 93-94? 95-97? the opti is a pain to get indexed right, took me a couple hours..., and if you have a 94 and under car, i believe you DONT have to tune, but if it is a newer car it will need a tune (i think? someone correct me if im wrong) also you can just get a (stud bolt) to put in your headers where the air is, and about the EGR you will need a tune for that.
good luck man

i didnt get a tune when i removed all of that and it had ran great, opti is cake to replace on my 95, and i went to the hardware store in the plumbing section and got plugs for my headers.

The car is a 95. I never heard of anyone needing a tube after installing an opti...
I all ready have the EGR plate blocked off. Had a tune while back when i got the 3.73 put in.

Any helpfull tips? do i have to take the timing cover off to replace the opti?

no timming cover stays just the 3 bolts that bolt the opti on have to come out, just watch how the opti comes off and put it on the same way, and the opti cap has the plug wire locations labed so its really easy, the hardest part is taking the balencer off cuz it likes to be stuck on there.

lol well ya know, cam, heads, intake, headers, 58mm tb, ewp, emissons delete, and no o2s till a few days ago, and no low oil sensor, or coolant sensor, on a bone stock tune, will throw just a few codes.

I pulled the AIR pump off and plugged off the port on the DS manifold and air intake until I put the headers on...
No troubles on my 94.

For some odd reason the new opti wont go right in. Have any idea y? Its going in the same way it came out... It does not sit against the timing cover. I have about a 1/2 of and inch of play

Okay... it was the wires. I had 2 and 4 mixed, but since im getting rid of the air pump i got to wait till tomorrow to fire her up. I am waiting for the bolts that go over the headers....
