Anyone running these on the streets or on a daily? I just picked up a pair (damn near new) for deal that i COULD NOT pass up.

Wondering if you guys had any opinions on them?

Wondering about wet traction too, if any? haha

Thanks

I have some friends using them on Mustangs with pretty good luck. They seem to wear well but they see very limmited street use. Some guys were talking on a local forum about them saying M/T recently changed their compound making them wear very fast on the street, apparently the older ones wear better. I haven't seem any doucmantation on this so I can't say for sure.

They hold up much better than ET drags lol. A buddy of mine figured that one out long before my tires showed any signs of wear.

There's a pair local to me for $100 a piece... if only I had the cash.

I don't see rain traction happening :D
Just a guess, I would think they would hydroplane like crazy... and get worse the wider you go.

At almost WOT around 1500 rpm in 5th gear my car spun mine in the rain. They are 26x11.50 bias plys.

Street tires come loose about 2100 rpm in the same gear, they are 315/35's. Whoops.

I just let the bastard sit when its wet out.

Yea i got both of mine for $160.:D

Doesnt matter anymore anyways, i bought a pair of factory corvette magnesium rims to put them on anyhow. Got those out of a wrecker for 110$ :D :D Those wheels are damn light too, holy.

Got caught in the rain today with them on the way home from work. They drive a fuck of alot better in the rain then my old tires did. I was quite surprised. I was even gettin on it too cause i put my tuned pcm in today. They drove very nice actually!

Compared to these, the MT drives much nicer haha :D

(p.s Yes i know, they were under inflated for a bit, dropped the pressure at the track and totally forgot about it haha ..oops)

Good to hear, I use the bias ply Et Streets like YZF as he said if it's wet out just let the car sit!

I have the MT ET street radials on my 95. They are 315/35's and hook to all hell. I haven't had any issues with them wearing wrong or fast . . . but then again I have only had them on the car for a month. They hook so good, they shattered my 10 bolt. 9" here I come.

Vette wheels look awesome!! Could you only get two of them, other two messed up in an accident? I love the magnesium wheels...no one makes replicas of them either :(

They hook surprisingly well on wet roads, its the standing water is where it gives way.

Unfortunatly i could only get the 2 wheels. He had a 3rd one but it was right fucked. Even these have a little rash on them, one had a hump that i had to pound out. Damn wheels are tough haha.

great tires

rain is not an issue if the tire is in good shape

I have been 60-70 mph on 275/60/15 in the rain with a spool with no issues...don't drive like an idiot and you should have no problems.

Might put them on the bench and use them for only track use. Was on the highway tonight with a BIG downpour. Going around a slight bend in the highway doing about 60mph, ass end goes sideways and i almost ditch it.

Needless to say, i may just buy another set of tires to be on the safe side.

Our highways are pretty rutted, quite bad in some places. I could feel the back swaying as i drove trying to stay out of the ruts. :S

Nittos are much better all around tires IMO and I own both, I keep the MTs for the track and the Nittos for the street! The MTs hook so hard I busted my output shaft and twisted a strange yoke rated to 800hp LOL! But the nittos handle better, wear better, drive in the rain and snow way better, and if you set the psi right and do a good burn out they hook ok too.

But Nitttos will crack in colder temps :( and they now have a new warning sticker on the tires when you buy them. Stay away from Nitto's IMO.

Ive had 5 sets of Nittos, 3 sets of MTs, and 2 sets of BFGs, and none of the Nittos has ever cracked on me and I used to run them year round. Buddy still has some original nittos from when they first came out that are in good shape to this day. If you drive alot the MTs and BFGs will need replacing every few months, and I def would not try any high speed handeling with them. Ive gone through alot of tires and this is just my opinion after using all them.

Not all will but you take a chance with them (Nitto's) which is why they put the sticker on the newer sets. Mine cracked and I know Larry's said they've had sets crack on them that were new and no miles on them.

I would personally go with an NT555 for street use. If your not making a lot of power to need a super sticky tire for limited track use. I would invest in another set with DR on them for track days.

Hmm... never had a prob. I also didnt notice any odd sticker on the set i got in january.
I still say they outperform every other DR on the street, besides traction out of the hole, but they do OK there also with correct ps1 and burn out.
I wonder since my car was always kept in the garage if that helped? I did DD them for years, on my 97 & 00 formula's.

As long as the temp is over 32* per Nitto.

Its all in there along with the sticker. You must have gotten an older set if the sticker wasn;t on them. At the power tour last year Nitto said they would not do anything to help me with my cracked tires except for line up free overnight shipping to have some new ones installed at my cost at the next stop...

There was a sticker just didnt notice anything like that on it, none the less I didnt have any probs in 5 sets so far. I will keep buying them for my street tires. Any regular radial just wont cut it on my ride.
