hey i have some questions for you guys. i just got my first lt1 a month ago and i am trying to figure which way to go with it. i wanna spray it but everyone thinks that it will blow up, it has 130k miles. what hp range is "safe" for a stock bottom end? i am looking into a h/c/i setup with some nitrous also. somebody school me on my lt1. i know the basics, i want to know the specific's on lt1, like what parts work best for it and what little tweak i can do to improve it.

I'm spraying on my 95 (135K miles). I vary from a 75 - 125 shot depending on my mood. As long as you do N2O right and don't go overboard (>150hp) you will most likely be fine. You need all the failsafes though. Good fuel pump, fuel pressure safety switch, window switch, ignition box to retard timing when spraying, colder plugs, and a wideband would be great if you can afford it after everything else.

All that said, it is always a possibility you will hurt something with nitrous.

like he said wit n2o there's always a risk but you can do your best to keep that risk down. i sprayed a 100 shot on my 165k mile motor and it was fine after. as far as heads cam intake ported stockers and a nice custom cam is one of the best ways to go elliotts portswork and advanced inductions are both great

well if you really want aftermarket then trickflow or afr. but advanced inductions has some very good set ups using ported stock heads

checked the site out, the 200cc heads are sick looking. 2 grand for assembled heads and a cam ready to bolt on sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

yea it is a pretty good deal and they've had some nice results. the h/c/i with a 150 shot and a good suspension set up i think you'd be lookin at high 10s low 11s

As always, I have to say Go with Advanced Induction. With that bieng said, Llyod also makes a great product:peace2:

Your car is a prime example that Llyod also has his shit together. I have been seeing better and better results from him lately. A couple years back, his combos seemed to be hit or miss. I think that he has his revisions on the heads down pat and pretty consistant now.

BTW, the cam in Stephs car and yours are VERY, VERY close. cant wait to get it tuned!

LOL! From LE!
Lloyd a great guy to work with, once you call him up its obvious he has a great passion for what he does and is more than willing to help with anything you need.
Hands down one of the very best experiences I have had working with speed shops
Same can be said about Larry and the boys over at Speedinc!!! Both places ROCK!!!!

AI pumps out great products but are a little more pricey, and when I called I just didnt get the same feeling as I did when I spoke with Lloyd. So I went with LE and couldnt be more happy with my decision.

lik ac said AI your just another customer theyll do your work and take the money and give you back a good product. they answer questions. but it'll take time to get an answer and not always a direct answer. lloyd will go into detail with you with any question and is an awesome guy. ive talked to both but after lookin on AIs site they just seem lik they will make the power i want.

also i picked AI because im goin with trickflow heads and they carry them. with lloyds le3 he suggests supplying him with an after market head and to me it seemed to be more costly.

Shit after looking at Edelbrocks site, you would think youll get the fastest car in the world by purchasing their products. Advertising isnt everything.

But plain and simple both make great products and For every AI set up theres a faster LE set up and vise versa. Call both and decide for yourself.

Advanced Induction is better banf for the buck. All llyod is going to do is port out the stock lt1 heads. If your on a budget go with llyod if your not. I def pick AI makin 610RWHP im happy with there products very good streetable cam.

AChotrod
04-21-2009, 06:52 PM
Budget? They are within a couple hundred bucks difference?
My very streetable LE stock ported heads/intake and a custom LE cam made 414rwhp on a stock bottom end, s60 rear, and open cut out.
I have since switched to 3" TDs and expect about 10hp increase over the cutout.
LE cars can make great power too!

CandyCoatedZ28

Its way more than a few hundred bucks. He does good work dont get me wrong ive seen impressive numbers with the stock Heads. But if you have a bigger budget id go with AI and use a aftermarket heads. u will get a lot more power out of it. AI holds all the track records Fastest LT1's made right now. Using 215cc TFS heads they running the track at 9.50s consisent. NO POWER ADDERS!!!! THey have also made an 8 sec LT1...

LE does work on all heads he just doesnt sell them Check out James Montigny's dart heads and dyno. Cant argue that with after market heads AI does have some very impressive cars out there. But ported stockers that flow awesome either does great work and LE is a little cheaper.

Either way they both do good work. All i way saying if you were going aftermarket AI would be a better choice cause llyod charges $1950 for his LE3s. And he'll want you to support him with the aftermarket headd from what i heard. I only payed $2500 for my TFS'S that ready to BOLT ON!! that car you got very nice if u made 400 with a stock bottom end dont think it will hold long though.

i have prolly close to 400hp on my 183,000 mile short block with h/c/i, seems to be holding quite well, dont have dyno data to prove it but will have them soon.

You might post your mods and your budget. I see posts going from "free mods" to h/c/i to 125 shot.

Personally I wouldn't run more than a 75 wet shot but I'm the cautious type. I'd rather play it safe then build up a new motor to hold a lot more juice safely. It just comes down to whether you want to pay to play.

That being said make sure you have some bolt-ons before you go getting a h/c/i or juice.

i wont worry about the money, i just want to know about the free mods there are. and the h/c/i is for this winter i believe.
