So over last weekend I got a nitrous kit. my only question is that if I put this on my car before the shootout, what all do I need to run so that I pass safety inspections and just for my safety. Also maybe pictures of the setups or routes you did on your cars, specifically on the daily drivers. Thanks

Only NHRA thing for NX is a blow down tube I think.

Yeah NHRA regulations state you must run a blown down tube, any other safety equipment such as fuel pressure safety switches, window switches ect is a good thing to have but according to the NHRA book you don't have to have it...
Nitrous is a great power adder but you want to make sure you invest some money into safety equipment just in case something goes wrong like you lose fuel pressure ect.
One little cough or hiccup can potentially cost you your engine.
It's always better to be safe than sorry :D

i completely agree! thats why i wanted to know everything i can. so does no one have pictures of their installs or setups? maybe someone running a sneaky pete shot or something. i want mine to be as hidden as possible.

As far as the hidden part goes, go into the nitrous thread that everyone posted pics of their set up in. One guy cant remember who, had it fully hidden in the passenger side like trunk panel, so the tank and everything would be like behind the quarter panel. It was a super clean setup and when the plastic trim cover was on you had no idea it was juiced.

so i talked to ed wright from fastchips and he told me i could just send him my computer and he could pull 4 degrees of timing out of it. is this the best way to go? i thought i had read about something MSD that would do the same thing but only when its armed or something. is there not a way to be running perfect and making peak power w/o nos and then pull timing when the system is armed and be safe? any ideas are welcome! just trying to do this the right way but still make as much power NA as i can.

You got it right, You can do either. You can have the pcm programmed to have x amoutn of timing pulled for the bottle only problem with that is you will always be down 4 degrees. I would go with the a ignition box that pulls timing when the bottle is armed.

I know you can change the timing with a msd 6al2 box. The only thing is you will always have pulled timing if you do it through the computer or through adjusting timing on the msd distributor. But if you run the LT1edit then you could always just adjust timing before and after runs.

ok so i'm having difficulty with the mallory box and the MSD harness that came with it. Is this what you (Mean LT1) meant?

also is it bad to purge down instead of up? does it hurt anything? like i have my tubing ran out in front of my passenger side front tire. Is that ok?
