View Full Version : Pics and vid of my new YSi setup
Some updates in case you missed it. Made a dual plate setup for the blower to stop the flexing, i made the standoffs, spacers and plates on my small lathe. Added a Tial Q BOV in place of the vortech Mondo, no more problems with pipes blowing off and compressor surge. Also switched from a 30mm cog drive with 68/26 pullies and 3" single bearing tensioner that kept shredding teeth off the belts and was just not able to take the stress, to a 10-rib setup using a 7.8" crank which required some machining to work, 3.25" paxton dual bearing idler which is a manual tensioner, and a 3.12" blower pulley. Belt length ended up being 44.5" which is the only size available in that area, but it fits perfect with this pulley, i may be able to do a 2.95" on the blower the way i have it set up, or could go with the 3.33" if i wanted. I need to move the tensioner slot on the plate a bit to get extra adjustment for any more options.

So do the pulleys on the YSi, T, and S all line up the same? Or did you have to space out the crank pulley? The reason I ask is I'd eventually like to step up again (natural progression I guess). I'm happy with the T for now but you know how the HP gods work....
LMK if you ever get the "itch" to sell the YSi...
I can make another one of these pretty easy if you really want one. I had to machine the upper mount, space the blower a little, and buy the pullies, then modify those. The pullies and spacer wound up being almost $400, and the plates and spacers i made myself from plate and round stock. I used the vortech brackets though, the spacer for the crank is a vortech SBC spacer i had to machine one side, then machine a hole in the other side to press a centering ring in, which wound up being the outer race of a bearing cause it fit perfectly.
So i have this on a bunch of sites, and i have some decent interest on making a couple of these. Anybody here that would be interested in a kit with everything but the blower itself? What kinda price range would be expected?
Belt-$50
crank pulley-130
spacer-30
idler-80
blower pulley-95
=385
+shipping
=400 for pulley assembly, + some machining charge. I could do the complete pulley setup ready to bolt on (with ATI balancer) for $575 i think. Brackets i could have cut with spacers and all the bolts for probably $275.
just thought i would update, i have about 800 miles on this setup and there is absolutely no problems. also would like to put out that if anyone is interested in the setup PM me a price, think im gonna do the huge single turbo after all. Includes brackets, blower, pulley setup, and belt. No piping included. Tell you what, this thing is fast as shit!

Turbos usually quiet stuff down. DTS300zx's for example.. he has it straight out of the front fender of his 300 with just a small magnaflow type muffler tucked into the fender, and my loudmouth'd cam only car is louder than his turbo/cam'd lt1.
I just like the ease of adjustability with the turbo, no pulley and belt change... just turn a knob or press a button and bam instant power, or even the opposite.. turn it down whenever you want
Looks awesome! Tucks in there nice compared to a lot of cars you see out there.
