Okay, so thinking down the road here I will ditch my Hooker headers in my Z in my sig for a set of Kooks 1 7/8 primaries. I also have a Borla Catback I will be keeping, but I will need a good y-pipe to connect the Kooks to the Borla.
What does everyone reccomend? I want to stay stainless, performance and flow must be ideal here (no cats). Also need something that is going to fit well and not give me clearance issues. Really looking to order a set rather than having them custom made.

If you want to stay stainless, Kooks offers a y pipe with and without cats. Im running the same header; Kooks 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 with 3 inch collector. I had Mufflex make the y pipe on my car to mate up to the 4 inch cat back.

How about a LPP y-pipe? Its the cheapest and 321ss.

I have heard the clearance on the Kooks y-pipe is terrible, and similar for the stainless works.
I haven't heard about LPP though. Anyone know how clearance and fitment is on it?

Honestly, you need to use the y-pipe that's designed to fit whatever brand headers you go with. These things aren't exactly all the same, even if they are similar. If you aren't going to go with a matching y-pipe your best option IMO would be to have one custom fabbed to suit your wants/needs. Since you're looking for bolt on with minimal hassle, stick to whatever is intended to be used with the headers you end up with otherwise you're not going to be a happy camper when you go to do the install.

The whole reason I wouldn't do that is because I have heard that Kooks Y-pipe is a bad design for fitting/installation and for clearance. Thats exactly WHY I won't use the same Y-pipe as the headers.

You are not going to be happy with anything you buy off the shelf. Most if not all do not fit that well and it seems fitments vary vehicle to vehicle. How many post's have been written about how low the y-pipe sits, how bad the y-pipe rattles and rubs, blah, blah. By the time you get one that you are somewhat happy with you will have to most likely modify the collector mount in some fashion, it may or may not line up with your borla. Then other mods/adjustments will need to be made to it.
I guess what I'm saying is the only way you will be happy, is to have one built. I made both of them for my cars (hooker LT's on one, Edelbrock shorties on the other). I have zero rubbing, zero clearance issues, etc.

It's too bad there is not any that fit good (if you know of a set that is good, please post it up).
I currently have the Hooker Y with the hooker LT's, and they actually fit great with no issues, other than the fact that my LT's are the 1 3/4 primaries and I really wanted 1 7/8, and just am wanting a good Y-pipe to go with it.
I have American Racing Headers and an American Racing off road Y-pipe on my Formula and it also fits like a champ with great clearance.
Is there nothing in the LT1 world that fits well and is stainless for 1 7/8 primaries?
