Some of you may remember seeing the pics I posted of this a while back in the lounge. Wanted to update the progress on the car. I know its not LTx powered, but it is force fed
We've had it up and running for a little while know and had some bugs to work out with the crank trigger and cam sync setup. But they are all worked out now and the tune is progressing nicely. We did as much steady state tuning as we could on the road. Today it was time for logging some sweeps through short rpm ranges while working our way up to WOT.
Now for 2 short pulls on video :D
First vid is a 2nd gear pull from around 2500rpm on up to about 6k rpm:

Second vid shows us rounding the corner in 1st, giving it a stab, short shifting 2nd and then letting out to get traction back before stabbing it again:

In both vids, if you play it really loud you can hear our favorite critic Denny, talking smack after we go by, lol.
The car is a 99 or 2000 Mustang GT. It's been swapped to the 4.6l 4v mod motor, and has Saleen body parts on it. The juicy stuff includes a Paxton Novi 2000, Accel DFI gen7, and a distributor in the drivers side valve cover to route the spark provided by an MSD Digital 6 and HVC2 coil. Being that its a pro-shifted 5speed makes the car a bitch to handle on the street. We'll have it on the dyno this coming Friday I think.

What kind of power is it making (estimate)?

It should be damn near 800 rwhp through the manual trans and 8.8 rear.
Here's the setup off the top of my head:
4.6L 4v Mod Motor (aluminum block, minimal overbore, stock stroke)
Heads and Intake ported by MMR
Sean Hyland Blower cams (relatively small, will look up the specs)
Paxton Novi 2000 maxed out
Deleted the Coil per cylinder setup and stock ECU, replaced with Accel DFI gen7, a distributor in the drivers side valve cover, and MSD box/coil.
3" thick Front Mount Intercooler by SDConcept, with custom plumbing
AlkyControl.com methanol injection setup
Hooker Longtube headers, 3.5" true dual exhaust with Spintech Mufflers
The trans was built by ProMotion (not sure what core but was told it was the good one by mpe331lx.) Its faceplated, upgraded input and output shafts, etc..
McLeod Twin Disk Clutch (heaviest mofo Ive ever installed, lol)
The most unique thing about this car to me, is the fact that it has a Torque Arm! The entire rear suspension is just like our F-body's with the exception of the torque arm being non-adjustable (We're gonna try and change that though)
Car will go on the dyno Friday, and will hopefully make some shakedown passes shortly there after.

And it moves much better now! I'll see about the ride, but it will have to be after dyno day and some more street tuning is done.

Dyno day is Tomorrow! Cant wait to see this project officially be done and over with.
We've got everything ready to go, including whatever tools we may need and etc. Just have to put the car on the trailer tonight so we can just hop in the truck and go tomorrow morning.

i wish my car ran so i could drive up there and see a ford blow up on a dyno:D
jk, im sure its going to put down some pretty awesome numbers that would be cool to see sucks that nick never got to have fun with it.

I think of it like he is having fun with it. Everytime I start that damn car I get a creepy feeling like someone 'else' is around, lol. Either way I know he's gotta be happy that its alive again.

Yea i bet, that would be a little weird. Has nicks dad seen it yet?
hey get good dyno vids!!

His dad has seen it idling in the shop, but it was nowhere near ready to drive... He stopped by when we were trying to sort out the crank and cam trigger setups. We plan to go out to his house with the car after the dyno so we can give him a good ride in it.
Will do on the dyno vids, but they will most likely be done on the same camera which is just a digital camera that can do pics and video. Hence the low quality of the first vids I put up.

hey i did over 8 hours of wrenchin on it pulling the motor and trans that gives me the rights to a ride in it right? lol that was fun too.
hey when do i get to help with dons car?
low quality vids are ok as long as u can see and hear whats going on.

Just got home from a full day at the dyno... Uploading pics and video right now, you'll have to be happy with this for now: 740 rwhp, and 600 ftlb corrected :D:D:D. Not too shaby for a Ford, lol

damn not bad at all i thought it would only put about 600 to the tires!! is it faster then ur good old TA?
lol doubt it
Fire67
04-17-2009, 06:52 PM
Its definitely different from driving the TA... With the stick its more of an on-off-on type of pull. The TA with its auto is a steady hard pull that never stops. Id say that he's got more money to spend if he wants to beat me, lol.
Photobucket is STILL trying to upload these vids... I'll pick a couple good ones and post them up soon.

not bad though for the amount of money that kyle himself has in it i supose. does it hook up pretty decent? how many hours did it spend on the dyno?
Fire67
04-17-2009, 07:04 PM
It took every bit of 4 - 4 1/2 hours to get it right. But we also tuned it for 2 fuel setups as well. 116 octane race fuel and no meth - Pump gas with meth
It made about 10hp less with the meth than it did on just race gas.
Hook up? Ha! No way in hell...
How about a pic or two:

<<<EDIT>>> Turns out that the vids I used Photobucket to edit are not working... Go figure. So I deleted them and am now re-uploading so I can post them up un-edited.
For now here's some that do work... The first being a random pull that sounds like it was cut short rpm wise for whatever reason:

<<EDIT>> Yet another random pull. By the sound of it, Id guess it was definitely pulled higher on this one by the sound:

Great numbers!:metal:
BTW, vids are still not working (atleast for me)
Let me know whan you guys are going to hit the track with it. I may be heading up to BMP on the 26th for runday sunday.

I'll try a direct link to the vids in a minute...
We've been talking about going to BMP for some 'shakedown' passes. The suspension still isnt really set up for the strip, but we figure we should at least be able to roll it out and get some MPH numbers.
BTW, I was wondering when you Ford boys would chime in! :D

I just changed out the recent vids for a 'direct link'
Hopefully that works, and if so I'll post more up tomorrow.

Check out posts #21 & 22. I've changed them out again. Hopefully these work, or I'll have to put them on my girls myspace so that I can get them to work here.

Testing another way of posting vids here... This was a pull that was aborted due to a lean condition. No methanol, 116 race gas:
http://i119.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid119.photobucket.com/albums/o142/JDaniels_SS/Kyles%20Mustang/DSCF1794.flv
Had to call and ask the guy talking in the vid what it did because I couldnt understand what he was saying for hp... 638hp 584ftlbs
Fire67
04-19-2009, 12:51 PM
This was like one pull before we found the peak power and torque levels without methanol.
