How long does it take and how hard is it in these cars. Ive got to pull the one out of the firebird to fix the rear main seal leak, and then pull the one out of the camaro to exchange for a new one. :monkey:
My dad is going to help me and has pulled trannys out of old trucks but never an fbody.

Cant give you a time but two of my buddies who have limited knowledge pulled it on his lt1 and said it was no big deal. They just had some problems with rusted bolts i wanna say it took them 10 or so hours with alot of smoke breaks and dicking around alot.

The trans in the camaro is a new rebuilt unit that got busted so it should come out easy, but the firebird is gonna be another story.

It's pretty easy. It took me about 2 1/2 hours with a lift. I would recommend unbolting and dropping the tranny a few inches to give you room to pull the cooler lines though.

Yeah just work slowly and carefully if its your first time, make sure you dont bend or break anything.
Its not a hard task, things go alot smoother with a lift but it is something that can be done on the ground.

Took mine out...the most time consuming part was getting to the bolts on the top of the bellhousing. You need a REALLY long ext and a swival type socket. I didnt have any probs clearing the exhaust...some guys do. Good luck!!
I just put a 6 speed back into my buddies WS6.. that thing is a brute!
Took me about 3 hours.. then the bleeding process :shame:

first off drain it..then unbolt convertor and then the the crossmember with a jack under the tranny, then unplug your sensors , undo your cooler lines before lowering it then just get a long ass extension and work your way around the bellhousing.after that lower then unbolt your driveshaft. those are the basics
