I'm using tunercat and was wonder exactly when the pcm knows to use the low octane tables. I have read that when the car is in speed density the pcm defaults to these tables...is this true? And what other situations do the pcm use these tables?
Thanks.

Guessing, have not tested, but I think it is after so many knock counts it will command the low octane tables.
Sort of what the LS does.....

how sure are you that you are getting good gas?
around here the gas is crap, all this Ethanol stuff is killing our tuning ability....we have to add octane booster to get any timing above stock, sometimes stock is showing KR...
I have a local gas station that does not have ethanol fuel but I am in BFE....
Use the tuning software at your own risk.....

I know it is dependant on the knock sensor but i am not sure at what exact point it switches over.
yes you can zero out the tables - but beware of what you are doing its dangerous. I zero'd mine out to see how far off my ignition timing was after a cam swap... and well... it didnt like that so much. I was watching the needle on my coolant temps rise lol.
