So AT&T has Iphones on sale if you are a new customer, or if your eligible for a phone upgrade - I have a family plan, and one of the lines (my brothers) is eligible for the upgrade. Unfortunately it isn't the line I would like to use the Iphone with.

If I order the phone (saying it was for the line that is eligible) would I be able to put my SIM card in it? I know with most phones this wouldn't be a problem at all, but I'm not sure if they do something different with Iphones that makes them only work with certain numbers.

Thanks for any help guys.

i'm pretty sure the i-phone needs the multi media package/i phone deal to work at all. as long as you have that you shouldn't have a problem.

They should be able to give you the iphone at the renewal price and then reactivate your bros old phone, and put the iphone under your line.

and if they act like they cant, they are lying.

I sold phones and worked in telecom for about 4 yrs and they can all do this. Whether they want to or not is another story.

You could put your SIM in the phone but would not get all of the features of the phone (i.e. visual voicemail, internet, etc...)

Like stated above, use the upgradeable line and get the iPhone on that line, then switch everything over.

That's going to be the plan - AT&T even said they were okay with it. Thanks for the help guys.

You can use it. You don't need a data plan or anything. I got my iPhone, put my sim in, still pay the same amount, and get Internet whereever there's wifi.
