Gen 1 smallblock rods n pistons

My buddy has a set of forged 355 smallblock pistons and forged rods.

Looks like the only difference is the lower oil ring is a lot thicker on the Gen 1 pistons.

Any reason we can't stick these in his motor when it comes apart? Thinking about freshening it up when he does the cam, headers, etc.

As long as you have the rotating assembly balanced you will be fine. SBC1 and SBC2 have interchangeable rods and pistons, the only difference is the factory LT1 pistons are lighter in weight than normal SBC pistons so it will need to be balanced.
