Would there be any gain from cutting out the fake louvers on the Camaro hoods and fitting in a grill of some sort? I thought it might help keep cooler air moving under the hood or give a place for heat to escape a little easier. Just a thought and was wandering if it would keep temps down under the hood. Has anyone tried it?

with cold air blowing over the hood of the car it would suck out the heat from the engine bay...so yes the car could benefit.

I'd like to know if anyone has done that too. Damn non-functioning scoops.

Are those behind the radiator? (not familiar with exactly where they are).
If they are behind the radiator, then yeah... probably MUCH better than the camaro. The camaro might try to scoop air IN. I'm no genious in wind tunnels... but usually better to let the air travel over the car, unless it's an intake ;)
If the firebird's are in front of the radiator, it would be a lost cause IMO.

I think it might depend on what is actually behind them. If you opened them and it was an enclosed portion of the hood you would still have to do more cutting to really make them functional. If they can be opened I don't think that it would hurt anything....
Let us know if you look into doing it in more detail.

I've looked at doing this as well. I'd be worried about water getting into the area of the Optispark. I suppose you could fab something to route the air to the throttle body from the scoops, but I'd worry about water, especially if it rained hard.
I'll eventually get the WS6 hood, as it's the best looking IMO. I've thought about fabbing up a quick scoop to direct air to the filter in the meantime.
