Hi all, Im building a 383 and I already have all the clearancing done, I got .064 EVERYWHERE. Next step is the machine shop and I just wanted to make sure that I get everything I need. so far I have:
1:bore and hone
2:Hot tank
3:install new freeze plugs
4:install new cam bearings
5:Neutral balance flywheel
6:Hone Mains (Don't know yet..... discuss.)

Is this all?

depends on how nuts you want to go, you could---

hot tank
magnaflux
splayed main caps
line bore & hone
bore& hone W/ Torque plates
Square deck block
Aline bore & True lifter bores, Install bronze liners
Match piston weights to .1 gram
match rod weights to .1 gram
Zero balance crank
Zero balance flywheel

matching pistons and rods takes a lot of time so its not cheap but it will make for less harmonics in an engine and let it rev a little quicker, not to many people do it anymore when building an engine other than Top end engines but i did it to mine, same with aline boring the lifters, NO one does that any more but block castings can be way off on some blocks and if the lifter isnt centered on the cam your not getting top performance out of it. we did all that to my engine

def. have them use torque plates when boreing and honeing. and be sure to let them know if your using bolts or studs b/c they flex the block differently.
