whats going on with LS7 lifters in LT based motors? I never heard of doing it, what are the advantages?

I got em from Summit. The reason a lot of us buy LS7 lifters is they are the replacement for all previous GM lifters, and they're cheap.

Yes they are direct replacement, I run them in my car... be warned though many say they have a different "cup" to them and you may need other than stock length pushrods. I run stock lengths but never did it the right way and had the valvetrain checked. My car runs fine though.... quiet as hell topend too (this I have also heard other people say LS7s are noisy, mine are not).

Part # is 12499225.
So far so good. Haven't put too many miles on them, but some of the ticking is gone (a couple of my old lifters were bad). I'd also recommend checking your pushrod length again with these, the pushrod cup is slightly different than stock LT1 lifters. Mine were fine.

$114.40 on GMPartsDirect.
I'm going to order a bunch of stuff from Summit though, so when I make my order I'm going to order the lifter from tSummit because they will price match anyone.

Same number everywhere.

I think GMPD charges more for shipping though. So just call Summit and they will price match them.
Edit - Just checked, GMPD wants $24 to ship, so even if Summit doesn't price match (which I was told by an Email that they would) it will still be cheaper to order them from Summit.

Thanks for the P/N. Ordered mine lastnight for the H/C swap along with a few other goodies.

I need to get some and replace my Comp Rs, these damn things are noisy and I cannot get them set perfect. Plus I have heard of problems but mine only have about 4500 miles on them if that.
I got mine from GMPD and wish i didn't. I thought i was saving money, boy was I wrong. It cost $24 S&H and then I had to wait almost Three weeks for the parts to arrive. (10 business days to get to GMPD and then another 3 business days to get to me)
As far as the lifters go they are nice. they are supposed to be good up to 7000 RPM which is what I was looking for. the cup in them is a little deeper, I needed a .050" longer pushrod when compared to stock. Hope this helps

I spin my motor to 7K RPMs too, and the Comp Rs are holding up good, but they are just noisey and setting the preload is a PITA
