I need some quieter rockers. These Comp Pro Mags are annoying, I can't stand the ticking anymore. I remember reading on CZ28 about Scorpions being really quiet, but I wanted to get some opinions here too. What are you guys running? Aluminum is fine, I'm not turning crazy RPM's, this is a street car. I would be getting NSA 7/16" 1.6.

You can hear the sewing machine here:

I have the 1.6 CompCams Magnum RRs (not the Pro Mags) and they sound like that too. Played with them twice and just cant get them quiet. Its also impossible to adjust them while its running.

i had the GM 1.6s then switched to chromoly 1.6s from PEP they are similar to the promags and they are just as quiet, hell i hear more injector than anything else....composite valve covers will absorb a lot of the sound

I'm sorry but if y'all are having a lot of valvetrain noise from Comp pro mags, you don't have it set up correctly. I have Comp chromemoly pushrods, LS7 lifters, and Pro Mag 1.6s under stock valve covers, valves set up my self and I've never had a quieter valvetrain.

I went a little past 1/4 turn after 0 lash. And I got the lifters from someone who said on his car it sounded like a sewing machine. It's all in how you adjust them

Well then you would the the first ever to say the Pro Mags are quiet. All I've ever heard is the sewing machine. And I've tried 1/2 lash and 1/4 lash, no change.

I'm thinking about going with some Crane Gold's. I'd rather not just try to cover up the sound, I've heard some guys say it didn't even do much. So I'd rather replace the rockers themselves.

Maybe it's the lifters but I've heard people complain (like I said even the previous owner of mine) about LS7s being loud...

What lifters are y'all running?

I have 1.6 pro mags too and mine tick also, doesn't bother me though . Anyway mine is the self aligning rockers, I've heard that the NSA pro mags are quieter. Which do you have z28project?

SA sorry forgot to mention that, when I had the promags on with my stock lifters/pushrods and before the cam, I had a lifter tick (what I think was a collapsed lifter) and it was somewhat noisy then, but once I switched everything out it was silent at just past 1/4 turn past 0 lash

Also want to apologize as my first post in here came off somewhat contentious.

My promags had that loud ticking too, so I bought a set of LT4 covers but that didnt help much. So I bought a set of Scorpions and sold my promags. I havent had the car running since the swap but I will fire it up in a couple of weeks so I will know then..

I've had 2 sets of Promag's, 1.52's and 1.6's. The 1.7 Scorpion's I have now are not as noisy and are a quality rocker and also cost less. The switch from 1.6's to 1.7's also netted me 10 rwhp on my car.
