before i order my true duals, my dad brought up a concern....

In michigan the police departments are low on funding and cops in our area are pulling people over for anything. I dont expect true duals to be quiet, and id like them to be heard... but i dont want anything thats gonna turn everyone's head within sight range every time i go above 1/4 throttle :jest: i dont need to get myself a fine for no cats either.

will i be OK with these or not? I'd rather be too quiet than too loud. I am going to have dual cutouts I can always open or space out with washers if its not loud enough.

My '94 Z had BBK Shortys to a 3" ORY to a single 40 Series Flowmaster single chamber and it was pretty loud. Nothing god awfully loud, but it could be on the border of wether or not you'd get pulled over if the police are extremely bored. I have a feeling yours could be a little louder with the higher compression ratio and cam.

I never got pulled over in mine, a bright red Z28 with 17% tint.

They defiantly turn heads that's for sure. It's really hard to say man I haven't heard my car outside yet with someone else driving although I passed my friend once and he said it was loud but I got on it a little. I need to let my dad drive it for me so I can hear it.

would you be concerned if a cop rolled up next to you at a light when idling?

Around here not so much I've heard cars with open headers cruising around. But in a bigger city I probably would worry a little.

i have delta flowmaster single chambers on my true dual setup. i actually got a muffler warning at a sobriety check last weekend. i told him i had 3.5in flowmaters. he got on his knees and looked under my car and said my tail pipes have to go to my rear tires :jest: forget that jazz. the mufflers are a tad loud and i turn heads everywhere when i take it out. i say go for it

with 3" duals its going to be insainly loud no matter what you do muffler wise.

i know bigger will be louder, but why is 3" going to be "insane" vs 2.5"? I dont really understand that.

I want a "loud" setup, but i dont want 'automatic coupon' setup. I cant afford any coupons, or worse yet a fine for no cats.

Im debating going with aerochambers which will be quieter, but also take up more precious space under the car.

i don't know why they are so much louder but there is a noticeable difference. i have 2.5" with bullets and i did 3" on my buddies car with bullets. we both have bumped compression and bigger cams. mine made a jump in sound levels when i dropped the cam and compression into it. he switched to flowmaster single chambers to quite it down and it didn't really help at all. to be honest him and i could easily get popped for niose if the cop is having a bad day.

my setup dumps under the car and its changing soon. i will run it out the back with either 2 single chamber flows or 2 borla race muffs in the stock muffler area.

here is a crappy vid of my car from a regular camera. the mic was maxed out.

You won't know until you do it. Everyone has different tastes. When I had my Magnaflow with my LTs and ORY, I never had a problem. It was quiet but not silent, and it really woke up at WOT.

If you're doing TD's, I suggest you do some more homework before it ends up in the classifieds after your first ticket. If you just want loud but are worried about getting a ticket, save your money and get a cutout.

I am going to have dual cutouts as well. by "loud" i just mean i want it to be heard, not deafening.
