WS6 hoods are all the same if they are oem. the firehawk is different. here's a pic of both of them. the difference is mainly in the nostrils. personally i prefer the WS6

I prefer the WS6 hood too. The firehawk hood was cool, b4 the ws6 hood came out! Ws6 is just way more agressive looking

it also appears that the WS6 hood has a higher buldge up by the windshield than the Firehawk hood does

The WS6 hood is okay, but I prefer the U.S. Exotics:

I almost bought a used US exotics from someone but they sold it beforei contacted them and i later saw the hood on a black LT1 T/A with black wheels that belongs to someone in the nifba and while it looks pretty good, i'm glad i got the WS6 hood instead. it flows with the rest of the car much better and also fits better. the aftermarket hoods usually don't line up quite right from what i've seen

I had a suncoast hood that fit perfect on my 00 formula

isn't that a hood thats a copy of the original? most of those usually seem to fit decent but when they try to make their own style it seems like they don't fit as well. that hood on the green T/A that was posted definately has some fitment issues on the left side. the hood sits a bit higher than the fender

It was a close copy but the cowling was a bit taller.

I'm partial to the Hawk hood... but I'm biased. :jest:

The more rounded off intakes just seem to flow better with the lines of the car (IMHO) than the squared off ones of the WS6. Granted, anything but the original stock hoods are aftermarket, but the Hawk hood just looks like something that could've come stock from the factory.

To each their own though.

They all look great. Minor differences can make all the difference to the individual though.

Yeah, me too. I sometimes wish my car was an SS just so I could get away with having the hood.

Me too man- it seems like they could have gone the extra little bit of effort to make them functional. Even my 85 TA has functional ones.
Maybe they were afraid of water getting on the Optispark:secret:

while the stock hood isn't bad i have always loved the WS6 hood. it just wasn't worth the $4000 price difference when i bought my car. to whoever said that the hood makes all the difference on some cars, i would tend to agree. My car did look good before the WS6 hood but it looks so much better after.

You mean "functional" as in basically heat extractors right? I had an '85 also, but there wasn't anything even remotely close to any kind of ram air intakes on the 80's and early 90's birds, unless one went after-market, which really looks strange on those cars IMHO.

Wish more people had taken care of those cars. Granted, they weren't anything impressive as far as performance, but I have not seen a really nice cherry condition third-gen in my neck of the woods in a LONG time! They've all been pretty well used and abused.

i know someone with an 86 T/A that is damn near mint. its that redish maroon color and has ~ 85k mi on it. it was stolen twice back in the 80s and recovered both times (joy riders most likely. it looks exactly like this one except its a t-top instead of a hard top (i don't know where the sunroof came from, that must have been aftermarket. i saw the one pictured at the T/A nats)

http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff279/pdennis93/Picture050.jpg

i think if i was going to get a 3rd gen, i'd get an 82-83 SE or Recaro like this

i know they are slow but i love that early 3rd gen black/gold T/A

My '85 was very similar in the color scheme and actually had Recaro seats in it. There was no official Recaro edition after '84 I believe, but the previous owner had assured me that the Recaro's in mine are what the car had came with. Unfortunately they were really trashed, so I replaced them with 4th Gen seats and sent them with the trash... unfortunately, only finding out later that even bad condition seats are apparently still worth something to some of the really hard-core Recaro fans as they can be re-done. Gotta admit I wasn't a fan of the screen-mesh head-rest though!

Loved the "bowling-ball" wheels on the early cars and wish people didn't tear up the Recaro cars to make KITT replicas. Maybe that'll make original ones worth more someday and people will rush to convert their KITT's back to original. LOL!

i doubt many Recaro's were made into KITT replicas. The regular T/A with PMD seats and silver 15" wheels with bowling ball caps (the recaro's had gold wheels) is what KITT was based off of. being that they only made ~ 2000 recaro's a year, i doubt many were turned into KITT replicas. when i said T/A SE that is what i was referring to, the black/gold T/A with the tan PMD's. i think they then took those cars and converted them to recaro's

as for your 85, did it look something like this?

(looks like that one's got recaro's)

Mine was just like this one, except it had the Recaro's and the earlier wing spoiler instead of the aero spoiler.

I hate the LS1 style snoots on LT1 car's.
X2

The ls1 ws6 hood on an ls1 car is pure sex!

The ls1 stlye hood on an lt1 just looks out of place.

IMO, the stock lt1 ws6 hood is the best looking one on a 93-97.
