You need to make sure you indexed it correctly, it is hard to do wrong but it is still very possible...
And for one, did you check to see if you are getting spark?

if you look at the back side of the opti (the side that faces the motor) there is a specific design to the splines and you need to make sure it matches up when it slides into the motor...
I'm too tired to search a pic lol hopefully someone else will chime in

obvious things, Are you 100% positive the spark plug wires are on it correct? Check them and then recheck them. Also, I have seen the opti harness bad. Check the wires for continuity in the harness. Then check from the pcm harness to the plug.

Two things you need---fuel and spark--do you have fuel pressure??
Do you have spark??
will it light off on starting fluid??

How many miles on the motor? Did it run before the opti.
Could have jumped timing but is unlikely, especially if the car ran before the opti swap
warnerTA
03-14-2009, 02:37 PM
yeah it ran fine before the opti swap..(except for the opti going out when it reached to operating temp) other than that it worked fine
warnerTA
03-14-2009, 02:38 PM
and it has 143xxx on the motor

Here's a pic of the coil, the ground wires go to the stud to the right of the ICM and coil. Its kinda hard to see but if you look close you can see them.

And here's a pic showing the splined opti.

Where did you get the new opti from? And like was said before have you checked the opti harness? Is the coil wire hooked back up? Have you actually checked fuel pressure or you just assuming its good because of the new pump? You really need to give us alot more info so we can help you.

Jerry Clayton
03-15-2009, 11:35 AM
So do you mean you put it on without it being properly indexed?
warnerTA
03-15-2009, 11:37 AM
yes, i need to know some kind of trick,? i know where it is supposed to go, i just cant get it to go their, i am sick of taking the water pump off and on off and on, i dunno how to get it on their right

I haven't never worked on a slined opti so I can't give any tips there. But leave the water pump off until you get it running just don't let it run long. Maybe try your old opti too, to rule out if the new one is dead.

does the back of your opti look like the picture in post 19 or does it have a round thing with 3 different shaped holes?
warnerTA
03-15-2009, 11:59 AM
it is simmaler to that one it has like almost a tack weld over 2 of the rivits, i am thinking of making some kind of like "bar" with the "STAR" end like that would go onto the camshaft end. simaler to what comes off the opti, and get that on there and then go from there, not sure if that would work or not
Jerry Clayton
03-15-2009, 12:02 PM
so it is a splined shaft??? and it is the same as the old one?
95greenZ
03-15-2009, 12:03 PM
Sounds like you got a vented opti.
Jerry Clayton
03-15-2009, 12:05 PM

03-15-2009, 12:21 PM
So your new one doens't look like that one? But what about your old opti? Someone might have converted to a vented opti.
warnerTA
03-15-2009, 12:25 PM

95greenZ
03-15-2009, 12:30 PM
