.....I've heard of the "hidden shift kit", mentioned several times online, but thought nothing of it. I've searched, but came up donuts. http://www.fbodyonline.com/forum/images/smilies/dunno.gif Has anyone heard of it? Maybe point me in the right direction? I'm assuming it has to do with the "transmission perform" button, in my '94 Trans Am, and there being a way to mod the cars that don't have that option. The reason I'm asking, is because I want to try it on my 3.4. They have the same trans, so why wouldn't it work? I think it will....just not sure how to wire it up.

Dont post the same thing in multiple threads please

And a shift kit is a set of spings and such that goes in the transmission, has nothing to do with electronics

Shift kits are mainly used on non computer controller transmissions like the 4L60 that came in 93 LT1s... 94+ are computer controlled

.....ok, you're brilliant.....but you're wrong. I posted it in multiple places, because I wasn't sure what the mods would classify it as, my bad. I know about the springs, and things shift kits......I've BUILT many of them. I was asking about the electroniclly shifted transmissions, in our cars....you can increase line pressure, electronically.....just like in the '94 Trans Am. I just wasn't sure what wires did what. Electronics isn't my strong suit.

.....guess that means they are "electronically" shifted, huh?

Outside of the "performance button", you generally need tuning software to change the firmness and shifting characteristics.

And btw it's a transmission related question so this was the correct section for it.

....thanks Ryan. I realize that, but I think the button just grounds something....which is electronic. I'm just not sure what, and thought maybe someone on here has done it.

Lemme do a lil research and see if I can find what you're talking about, I'm not an auto guy so it might take a bit

From LS1tech

it also raises the line pressure with the pressure control soleniod.....on thatsame solenoid you can turn the torx bolt on it that is behind the plug 1/4 turn to the right (no more than that) and it will make it even harsher

but this guys says

I still dont understand the point though I do think it's kinda cool. Looking at the Performance Up/Down shift point table from what I see all youre doing is changing the shift point as per mph vs %tps. No line pressure changes.

Also found this

Don't know if any of that is even any help

.....I'll check it, thanks. I appreciate your help.....:detective:

It seems that what it does is completely switch to a different table in the computer, exactly like what getting a tune for it would do... So I don't see messing with the wiring changing anything line pressure wise... it looks like everything needs to go through the pcm, you can't change pcm programmed values by just messing with wires.

.....that's exactly what I wasn't sure about....thanks.

Glad you got your answer, next time, despite the fact that you are unsure about what forum to post the thread in, just pick one section and post it there.

Even though you are confused, how do we know it isn't spam? Pick a spot, go with it. If it's wrong, we'll move the thread and let you know!

In other words, the extra tables are probably not set up in the pcm to be activated by a wire. Most people will just increase shift firmness and points in the pcm and leave it that way.

Nono, everything is fine. Just a heads up. :metal:
