Got the hotparts from z28pr0jekt, made by RealQuick. Turbo is an ebay knockoff sadly, 70mm, balanced. 31x12x4" intercooler, 3" piping, Mallory 110fi pump (hate it), Aeromotive FPR, Innovate WB, JGS wastegate, HKS Race BOV.

Yeah, I need a blue 3" to 3.5" silicone coupler if anybody wants to sell one. Need to pick up a few T-bolt clamps as well.
http://i558.photobucket.com/albums/ss30/ryan_stout88/DSCN0338.jpg
Sorry if they're a little out of order, but you get the idea.
Here's a video, untuned, running rich. The fuel pump has no isolators so that's why its so loud. The sound is terrible but it sounds amazing, its spinning 1st through 2nd, open downpipe.
http://s258.photobucket.com/albums/hh271/datsun350z/?action=view¤t=DSCN0343.flv
It still needs LOTS of work. On its maiden drive, it blew 3rd because it actually hooked, so I have no idea how fast it is. Going to buy a Performabuilt lvl 2 sometime in a week with a 2500 stall. Its small, but will do alright with the stock cam.
I'm in the process of unpacking, I finally bought a house, I hated working in that old garage at the rental. New house has a nice brand new 2.5 car garage :). I'll get some more pics in a few days.

Hey, is that a scavenge pump, and if so, are you plumbing it to the oil fill cap??? If you are, what fitting are you using in the cap?

Nope, fuel pump, its fawkin loud. Ran -8 AN lines to and from the pump, then tied them into the factory lines. Ran the return to the oil pan.

Looks good! My kits weren't as pretty back then, but they worked. How much boost were you running, 7psi?
Ryan Stout
03-23-2009, 12:38 PM
Yeah, just 7 for now. Hoping for a little more after Alky injection. It was a lot easier to bolt on your hotparts than it was to put headers on that thing sadly enough.

When you stood the radiator straight up did it hang down real low? Does it clear the hood?

I imagine it would hang 3" or so lower. You can see in one of his pics that he cut the lower support as well. Most people will get a smaller radiator so that it doesn't sit too high for the hood to close. And others do it this way.

Well I have a lot more parts, doing a 383 build. On my days off I will get pics and update you guys. Keepin the master power 76mm for now, might get something a little bigger later on. I'll port my hotparts to see how much I can squeeze out of them. So here's a quickie:
Billet 4 bolt splayed mains
Scat 4340 crank
Scat H beam rods w/ ARP bolts
SRP -31cc pistons
Devil's Own meth kit
yada yada, gonna have LE make me a cam, undecided about heads, yet again I might see how far I can push the stockers. I don't wanna be like 90% of the people in my town and finish the car in a few months and get bored with it and sell it. I have a lot of cool new toys though, I think I mentioned a lot of them in another thread.
Now here's where I need your guys' opinions. What do I do?
1-port my hotside and my MP76 and see if I can crack 650rwhp with it
2-port my hotside and make a GT47 fit (lol)
3-get a used PT88 setup online and sell my MP setup
Is my MP76 at 15psi gonna hold up to 650rwhp? Will it be choking my motor because the housings are fairly small on it (but its easy to fit in there), or will I be fine? I do like the idea of having a smaller turbo for spoolup though :).
Z28pr0jekt
02-17-2010, 08:29 AM
port it and keep the 76. it should hit 650 easy especially on a 383. Remember I'm looking to hit that number on high boost (17psi) with my 355 on stock heads and intake with my 78
Ryan Stout

Hmmm very true. I'm a T56 also. Not trying to be a dyno queen, just making 650 as a goal for anybody whos wondering. So Ryan, you are going to run 17psi? I thought that the LT1 ECU was only decent until 2bar (15ish psi) because anything over makes the resolution too low and it hard to tune. Am I incorrect? If so, my cr is 8.8:1 and I think on meth and 94 octane, I can run about 17-18psi. I REALLY don't wanna go aftermarket on the ECU because that gets way too expensive, might make that next winter's project.

I honestly don't even think you should need meth with 8.8:1 CR. I don't plan on using it, as long as you have your timing in check you should be fine, granted yes you can run more timing with the meth but still. I always view meth as a crutch and I don't agree with it. I don't plan on running anything other than 93. My compression is quite a bit higher than yours also due to unforeseen circumstances (about 9.4-9.5:1) but I plan to kick it down to 8.5:1 in the future with aftermarket heads.
Yes, I have a 2 bar tune and did not get a 3 bar because Alvin explained the resolution would be pathetic and not recommended for a street car like mine. I plan to run around daily between 8-11psi. When I get the itch or set up a run with someone I know is above me I will crank it up slowly. Basically after the 2 Bar section of the tune is up (>15psi) the PE tables are what matter. Yea it is harder to tune that way but it allows me the greater resolution.
I still plan on going to a megasquirt II eventually so that will remedy that problem, but even still, the MS has pretty poor resolution compared to even a 2 Bar on the stock ECU. (I compared my tune/resolution to DTS300z's Megasquirt tune on his turbo LT1)
Ryan Stout
02-18-2010, 12:57 AM
From the way I read it, 15+ is possible, you just need to get the PE tables dialed in?

Yes, on a speeddensity car at least because we run off the MAP or PE Tables, idk how the MAF cars work with FI
Ryan Stout
02-18-2010, 08:12 AM
Should be fine with me also then. They say the stock MAF maxes out around 6-8psi (depends on circumstances though) and then it goes SD. Something for me to ponder for a while at least.

Doubting it for the shootout but hopefully.
Realquick-Using BBK shorties (like you recommended) and 2.5" pipe curling them around back up front, then merging into the T6 flange. From turbo out its gonna be 4" echaust out the front bumper. No matter how many times I've measured its IMPOSSIBLE to run it out the back. I'm gonna try to make it as quiet as possible. Thanks for all the advice from all the times I PMed you, it helped a lot :). Its by far not perfect but I'm kinda impressed by myself.

Fender :(. It was impossible to run it out the back. Another guy around town has a 6.0 with a MP76 on it out the fender and its not terribly loud. I don't like it yet, but we'll see how loud it is when I first start it. That big lump right after the turbo is a Dynomax Bullet to try to tone it down a bit.

Vids coming soon. Got a Griffin radiator on the way along with new fans. Hits 1psi at 4000rpm and 5psi at 4700rpm lol. The most amazing 5psi I've ever felt though. I was afraid to go past 5000 so not sure how it does up top. Its gonna be a monster. Was a blast blowing off at bikes/local rice again though, damn I missed it. I'll get better pics sometime, the exhaust is flush, new springs, few minor differences.

You could've done that downpipe cleaner out of the fender... could've cut the hole more flush and put a metal trim bolted to the fender and cut the pipe more flush to the bumper.
It just looks kinda sloppy for such a nice build

Lol, its MUCH better now. I still need to do the metal around the pipe though, not sure how exactly I wanna do it. Aluminum, painted steel, or have one at all. Yes its MUCH cleaner now tho.
MORE PICS!
5107510851095110
New griffin radiator in, fogs deleted, and IC pulled way forward. I need to get more pics of the outside though. Should I just leave the exhaust coming through a hole in the fender/nose or should I do the aluminum plate around it like z28projekt mentioned? Thanks to those who keep track of it. I'm pricing video cameras right now. Might get a Go Pro camera, not sure yet.
Edit: Wow, I didn't realize my droid's lens was that dirty, sorry guys, I'll get the good camera out sometime soon and get a ton of more pics (I know, I keep promising and promising).

Ah sorry fastbird. Stock ECU for now, got a madZ28 tune for 7psi as a base tune, I'm gonna be making the changes but gonna go LS1 ECU this winter so its only seeing 7psi for now. NOBODY around here does LT1 tunes and the LS1 can go 3bar :D. I'm only planning on 15psi, but I could also tune on the fly with the LS1, no opti, keeps gauges, and its still reliable.

As for the exhaust and hole, definitely do a shroud, and I'd say even try to go so far as to paint it the color of the car or something.

So I came thru finally. Got some pics and a quick teaser vid (havent bought a camera yet, got from phone). Engine now has 130 miles! no problems at all for the past 60 so thats good. Enjoy!
51575158515951605161 Pics aren't the best, didn't have my tripod with me so the ISO was at 3200. I can't hold a steady camera at all, shutter speed was 1/8 IIRC and these were the best out of 30 :(.

3rd gea pull, let off at about 4000RPM, hit around 4psi during pull (builds fast once it starts). Wideband took a dump....AGAIN so I didn't wan't to rev too high at all. But she runs freaking awesome, I'm hyped. I need to locate my WB O2 farther downstream, it keeps getting a code 8 (Overheating sensor=dead sensor). Ugh, always something. OH, I hit 6psi at 4700rpm with a buddy in the car today and he said it feels like it'd pull his brothers I/E/Pulley'd 03 Cobra. Not sure how it'd fare, feels like 450-470rwhp on the a$$ dyno, but I'm not going to claim anything.

Our cars are pretty similar. I just realized, You're about 2 1/2 hrs away from me, just hop on I70 and drive a ways LOL. Got a good buddy thats in STL right now going to school. 04 G35, silver, black DD wheels, Mickeys, built engine, ported heads, 67mm billet precision turbo, nasty car when it runs. Both cars never run at the same time so we can stop bench racing :jest:. I was considering dogboxing the T56 but its truly a street car. Any suggestions on who to get to build the T56 or should I tear into it myself?

Thanks and I hope so. So much time and money in it, trying to make it fairly reliable too, its not being easy at all. I want a car I can drive 100 miles, play with it, and drive it home. All without race gas, changing tires, and trailers.

Ordered more stuff to finish off the fuel system I'll never max out, got the T56 ripped apart, going to get a rebuild kit with all kinds of goodies (Steel shift forks, almost everything new minus gears that are ok and case), and having all stress parts cryo-treated. LS1 ECU swap halfway done, going to get ahold of Lloyd for some LE3s sometime right after tax season.
Found an old thread where Speed Inc made a 427ci (LS) with AFRs that made 920rwhp through a stalled auto and 17psi. Hoping I can hit 750rwhp at 17psi+meth thru LE3s and a 6spd. Who thinks I can do it? I have more than a few doubters, but I enjoy proving people wrong, this cars proven many wrong so far...gonna have a fun summer, will definitely get TONS of videos.

Glad to hear this is still moving along. I don't have the patience to tackle a trans rebuild since I'm sure it can't be that bad if you know what you are doing. Mine will be going to Tick for a rebuild soon enough.

Just aim to run 9s or so lol
There will be a party if I hit 9s with my 6spd lol. Also have some rocker arm carnage I'll post up. My self aligning rockers, un-self aligned. No damage done and it was a block away from home thank god. Comp Pro Mags are on the shelf waiting

Just a quickie. More or less waiting on my tax check. Here's the stuff thats getting bought with it. LE3 heads, faceplated/cryo-treadted/built T56 by RPM, and the LS1 ecu swap. I knew I bought a house for a reason :shiner:. Also getting a 2nd Bosch 044, redoing my IC piping, redoing my fuel system (engine half), getting a bar and harnesses. I got my seats and tranny cooler in today. Kinda disappointed that Summit's seats don't match as well as the website's pictures show, but its not that bad. Worst that happens is I dye them. I'll see if I can't find some pics.

Dead rocker arm, haven't had the ehads off yet, but the valve wasn't dropped thank god. Think it'll be ok?

Regularot in place, that gauge is only on it for mockup, its actually going to get placed in the rear at the rail itself. Looks funny on top IMO.

Cool picture my buddy took of it while I was still mocking up the hotside.

OK guys, I pulled the engine sicne it was only being held in by 2 bolts. Decided to double check on things and.....my bearings are shot (cam, rod, and main). Good news is that the crank looks brand new so nothings hurt. Damn rocker arm. So I'm taking advantage of this and detailing the engine bay. Got the EFI Connections LT1 -> LS1 wiring harness ordered, 8pt cage ordered, and sent Lloyd an email about where to UPS my heads/cam/intake.
Bad news is that I'm going auto. I love my T56, its been awesome, but its just not gonna hold what I want, even if its built. Its $4000 for a Magnum from RPM and $1400 for a McLeod twin disc. I can do a MVB/Tbrake'd 4L80e for WAY cheaper and be WAY faster.

Yep, another update. T56 is off to RPM to get Viper spec'd and faceplated (cutting me an absolutely KILLER deal), turbo is off getting rebuilt. New LE cam is here, Lloyd is porting some TFS heads for me (2.08 intake valve, 225cc intake runner, flows 300/220+cfm), EFI Connections wiring harness is paid for. All I got left is some JE pistons, the rest of the EFI connection stuff (the sensors and whatnot), wait on trans, and its done. Engine bay is painted, rollbar is in, I'm getting excited now.

Yeah, done quite a bit. I work tonight so I'll get pics later tomorrow. Here's what I got tho
Made the Hoosier 335s fit on ZR1s and they look SICK.
Got the trans (micropolished, faceplated, viper spec'd T56) and its awesome looking if you can look past its price tag.
QuickTime bellhousing
McLeod clutch (still waiting on shipping)
Harnesses
LS1 ECU conversion stuff is gonna be here Monday
Twin bosch 044s are in
T56 pump and cooler is ready to go in
Lloyd Elliott Trickflows are awesome, along with the LE intake and LE cam (224/224 dur, .565 lift, 114LSA)
JE pistons are here
Crank off getting rebalanced for the pistons
ATI balancer on the way, along with HP Tuners and a T6 turbo blanket.
Yeah, my parts pile is massive and I've gotten a LOT done. I also bought a 2004 SS pickup and it helps a LOT when getting parts.
I didn't think anyone paid attention lol.

Thanks! Means a lot coming from a guy who fabs these things up every day. While I have you here, how much extra room does a BMR or UMI K member make? I'd LOVE to route my DP out the back, even if I have to neck it down to 3.5".
EFI Connections wiring harness and cam/crank sensor stuff came in today. All I have left to buy is HP Tuners and a LT4 starter.....thats it down to the little stuff. I'm getting antsy.

You can squeeze 3.5" DP on the pass side with a bmr k.

Well guys, I'm in the final stages of getting parts, everythings bought, everythings here, just waiting on the guy to rebalance my bottom end and hone the block and I'm good to go. Making lots of progress but my garage is too messy to even think of taking pics. Scored a Harwood hood (with the scoop) for $125 out of a junkyard, not sure if I like it or not yet. Also got a SS spoiler to match. Got those damn 335s to fit also. She's looking pretty sick from the back if I do say to myself.

Sounds good! Do you have an estimated date for completion? I hear ya on the garage mess. Mine hasn't been the same and will easily swallow up one of my weekends in the near future.
Would love to see 335s in the rear. I have 295s and think they are somewhat a squeeze. Bet it looks intimidating.

Runs, drives. Went to have it tuned and one bank's short term fuel trim is at 12, other is at 30 and it has a "lifter tick" noise bad. I hear there's bad batches of LS7 lifters sometimes, so I got a new set. Gonna rip the intake off and see how it looks down there. Gonna redo a couple little things that irk me while I'm at it (fuel pumps inline, not parallel, fix DS loop, etc). Also probably will need some more hefty valvesprings when I bump up the boost. Its good for about 7-8 psi now, probably be good to go here in a few months to try for 4 digits. We'll see how it goes the engine bay looks a lot different now tho.

FYI, i started the car up with that cam you gave me. i havent driven it yet, as i need to run out and grab a timing light first.

Yeah it's a quiet one. Should make good power though. Cylinder 1 was a bad coil n it's #2 that has the ticking. Im gonna take the valve cover off and maybe throw some lifters in it today.Larry and AMS were both great to deal with!!

nice Ryan! Timing seems a little low (should be able to run 26-28 degrees @ 6psi. When you dynoing?

Wow that's quite a bit. How much timing should I pull per lb of boost? I tried getting it done a while back but it had problems on the dyno. I'm just going off their base tune they did (AMS) and doing it myself. All it needs was WOT tuning. Hopefully march, I wanna do some forward facing headers and delete more stuff. Any tips?

Usually you pull 1 degree per # of boost.
When the time comes for building your next set of headers, just reach out and I can give you some advice.

bolt your flanges to a big block of metal to act as a heat sink/prevent warping.

they will likely still warp slightly, a belt sander cleaned mine up easily.
