I'm relocating the alternator down low and want some fabbed valve covers, and thought these looked like a good deal.
And no I will not buy Cantons, period.
Post some pics of fabbed covers on our Fbodies if you want

Thats what I was thinking, but I'd have to drill them for the breather and oil filler but thats not a really big deal as long as they don't leak.

just be careful some of the valvecovers on Ebay are really cheap POS's and will not seal up to save your life...

I dont know why, but me and my dad have never had a chrome valve cover that didnt start leaking.
The stockers are ugly but im staying with them when I build my motor.

put a set on my friends z awhile back. two issues with them, no baffles so the breather spewed oil and had to use the $50.00 felpro reinforced steel/cork gaskets to keep them from leaking.

Sorry but I will never own a canton product. Any company that makes specific parts for our cars and you have to bash the shit outta them to make them fit, I don't think so.
Jegs sells a set of fabbed covers for about $150 IIRC and I think they are morosos, and I haven't had too many problems with their products. Except for my oil pan that had the drain plug smashed in, but that could have happened anywhere.
But the ebay covers are a no-go huh......what do you guys suggest for fabbed covers then? I'd keep the stockers, but I'm looking for something more. I already have the rubber felpro gaskets and really like those.

My wife got me a set of black Proform crinkle finish valve covers a couple years ago when I installed my engine. They are pretty nice but like most aftermarket brands I had to fab up a bracket for my alt. They are nice covers and I've had no problems at all.

My canton valve covers fit first try with zero mods, as does my canton oil pan. Never leaked a drop and reused the stock rubber gaskets.
Ancient pics but you get the idea.

I "think" canton revised the product after so many people had trouble with the alternator clearance
either that or someone modified yours lol, did you get them straight from canton?

^^^I still won't get them. I'm relocating my alternator and they would look goofy with the notch and nothing in the way of it.
My buddy has a canton oil pan, but I refuse to buy their products. Sorry, but I just can't justify it. I got my Moroso oil pan which is a 7 quart capicity for under $200 ($179 IIRC) and it fit first try, doesn't leak, and it tucks up just above the bottom of the stock k member. Almost like it was designed for our cars :) Plus it holds 7 quarts of oil and I can still use the large oil filter with LT headers and the pan. My oil changes are a breeze.

What is the part # of the Moroso pan your using? The catalog isn't very clear on the LTX F bodies.

I didn't get the moroso pan for the LT1 fbodys, I got the 7 quart pan that is designed for the '86+ motors with the 1 piece rear main seal. The part # is MOR-20205. Mine was painted though, I wish they would have had the zinc coated when I bought my pan.

Could you pull your motor out the top with that pan on if you had to?

Don't know. I always pull the k member and everything. I just feel that its the easiest way and I don't scratch the shyt out of everything. Plus with LT headers they are a PITA and dropping the motor down is cake.
But I'd say if you have a tubular K member going in from the top could be done, but with a stock k member I doubt it would have the room.

I agree the bottom is the way to go, I was just curious how tight it was around the
crossmember.

Its not tight by any means, it fits really good. I'll try to take some pics today if I think of it. But I would say there is about an inch of clerance everywhere

x2 on the fit. I have no problems with fit on my canton valve covers. My only problem is that I apparently sprayed PB Blaster across the engine and it etched into the Cantons. :shiner: So now I have polka dotted Canton covers!
