I'm new to this site, so hello to all. I have had several new SS cars. Three being a 96, 2001 and a 2002. But I always wanted my 1996 bright teal ss back. I sold it in Rochester NY about 10 yrs. ago. The car number was # 1687, or I would like another one just like it. But when I ordered it the dealer said it was a one off car and it was nearing the end of production for that year. So I think she is gone and can't be replaced. But if it can be found I will post some kind of a finders fee.

This one is in the St Louis MO area and a little far from NY but you never know. Hope you find it either way.

Well first, the title says "Z28 SS"

Which it's either one or the other, and I felt they were trying to pad the price by calling it an SS.

2nd, if you look close at the last pic of the rear end... it looks like it had the chevy symbol and a Z28 emblem

And the other thing I'm not positive if it is correct or not but do the SS LT1s have a higher spoiler? If so, that has a regular Z28 spoiler

I have it and I will sell it to you for $1.687 million dollars.

No but good luck finding that exact one, just settle on another teal '96 SS and get it the way yours was. :)

teal was one of the lowest production colors for SS's, factor that in with the transmission, slp options, and interior and it could very well be a one off car.

do you have the VIN? you could carfax it and see where it was last registered. that would narrow your search

Thats a 96-97 SS spoiler. They arent as steep as the 98-02's but that definetly isnt just a Z28 spoiler. It has too much curve action.

The '96 SS's were marketed as a Z28 SS, they had Z28SS on the floormats and airbox for example. However, based on the rear pic it's hard to tell if it says Z28 or SS. The best thing to do would be to take that vin posted on the ad and call SLP.

Well I took the vin and typed it into carfax and it comes up only as a Z28

And actually that VIN number given on craigslist isn't even correct... It is either fake or it should start with 2G1

Dunno, call 'em if your serriously interested/worried about it. I'm just saying all LTx SS's will show up on carfax as a Z28. Not 100% sure about LS1s.

Ok, wouldn't have thought that, figured SS was a trim level but I guess it is an optional package

Well, my VIN has been confirmed through SLP, my car has the door stickers and everything and carfax pulls it up as a '97 Z28. ;)

LT1 SS's were sent to SLP as Z28's where they recieved the SLP modifications (composite ram air hood, 17x9 ZR1's, spoiler, etc.)

Same with my formula! You have to call SLP, I also still have the orig window sticker to prove it.

It had the full ss package, six speed, black hard top also. Power locks and manual windows. SLP told the dealer it was the only one made like that. I don't think with only 77 cars having a one off would be not so hard. The roof was the deal with the six speed I believe.

Ok guys when I bought my first SS in 96 it was sold from GM as a Z28, then went for the ss package at SLP. My ss said Z28 SS on the air cleaner, which I kept for safe keeping and have it still in the garage. In 2001 I bought another one and it is just a SS camaro, Oh Berger camaro SS that is. But I want a 96 SS 6 speed hard top again. I just hope I can find my teal car. I wish I had the vin number, mabey I will call the insurance agent.

So you don't have any of the old paperwork or service records with the VIN on it then i take it?

I have owned 3 houses since, so I cant find anything on the car. And the car was a least 15 cars ago so that don't help either.

even if you had the VIN I don't think the DMV would give out personal information. Sorry man. :(

Best bet is to try to find a teal Z28 hardtop and make it an SS clone or just pick up another hardtop SS.
