Whats the lightest LTx-swap car you can swap an LT1 in while keeping the rest of the car mostly stock? No weight reduction, just swapping in a LT1.
Also, what would be the lightest with keeping near a 50/50 weight distribution?

RX7
Fierro
...
I thought of both of those but didn't put either because neither would be 50/50 and also the Fiero is more of a hassle transmission wise

The chassis has to be stronger to accomdate not having a top.

240, 260, and 280 nissan z cars, ive seen them as light as 2400#'s with the stock L28. An aluminum headed small block is almost the same weight as the stock straight six, and the ability to set a small block further back than the L28 gives better weight distribution to boot.

Agreed... I miss my Datsun 240z like CRAZY.
But PLEASE cage it... I've seen too many V8 Dats that are twisted like a pretzel after being raced. The hatch and hood no longer sat straight. Just sad :(
Oh, and the first 240z was lighter than the later years (I think it was '71 only). Even the later 240z's were heavier.

Perhaps a 240SX might not be the lightest car you could swap an LT1 into. BUT, it is likely to gain MUCH less weight than an RX7 or Miata. And weight distribution will be affected ALOT less. Thank the already heavy cast iron block KA24 engine for this. Because this engine is SO heavy, you only gain something like 150 pounds of weight by swapping in an LT1 (and this may be with an iron head LT1). As a result, you end up with a car that is still quite light and has fairly close to stock weight distribution. Also, I have to admit that I like the styling of the 240SX MUCH better than the RX7. Of course, looks are in the eye of the beholder.
