Well, it sucks guys, but yesterday I was washing my TA and driving it around after finally getting her running again.
And I noticed something horrible.

The clear coat is peeling in two places, on the roof right behind the t-tops, and on the left rear corner of the bumper.

Yea I am pretty disappointed, I mean I know my car needs a paint job considering people in Corpus Christi have the driving etiquette of a baboon on speed.
Since I have moved here my car has gotten hit 3 times while parked
Twice in the front bumper spiderwebbing the paint and chipping the tip of my hood and once in the right rear breaking my taillamp and spiderwebbing the paint on my bumper

Anyways, you guys have any ideas for a quick fix while I save money to get her painted?

I bought an orbital waxer yesterday and I was thinking about hitting her with polish and wax and see how it turned out.

If it's peeling, there is no saving it short of paint.

I dont think it would be a good idea using a buffer on weak clear coat. I've never been in that situation so I dont know.. It would probibly go through the clear coat very easily.. My suggestion would be to try prevent more of the clear coat from being damaged. If you plan on waxing the whole car sometime soon, put 2-3 more layers the area the clear coat is comimg off at. That should help slow it down some.

I'm definately no expert on the subject, but waxing it should help slow down the process and help to protect it.

its not too expensive to get that piece behind the t-tops painted. as long as it doesn't have the dreaded bubbles through the paint problem like the LS1 cars did. mine was starting to show white flakes in the clear and i had it repainted when i had my hood painted/installed last year and the total bill for the hood, headlight covers and the roof was $730. the hood was painted and cleared on the outside and painted w/o clear on the underside. i think it was ~ $400 for the paint on it. headlight covers were $45 apiece (had to have one repainted due to a repair shop scratching it only 2 weeks after it was painted. since i had to take the car back to the body shop to have the hood fixed under warrenty due to a filler problem, i paid for the headlight and made the shop reimburse me. ironically i had left the body shop and drove ~ 10 mi to the shop to have the radiator done and the body shop owner vouched for me that those scratches werent there when i left his place)

anyway back to the roof. i would guess it was ~ $300 to have the roof painted

Well I am due for a total paint job anyways, my front bumper is all pitted due to crappy road work down in Corpus Crappy, Texas

and the rear and front bumper impacts again due to stupid drivers here

I was watching the news today and there was 1400 accidents here in the last month, you have to be freakin kidding me, I hate this city with all my heart, I need to get back to west Texas where things and people are normal
