What are the differences btw the 2? One "better" than the other?

I know they're both good and I really wouldn't hesitate to use either in my research. Just curious what your guys' experience has been.

Also, most importantly, does Ed offer programs via email? That is what I have decided to do and will be going with Ion for sure, if Ed can't/doesn't do this.

I hear Ed takes his time to make the tune dead nuts perfect, but I'm not driving to Tulsa for a dyno tune lolza.

Thanx

I have mine through Ion actually i have had a few done from Ion.....very satisfied with Ion..
There is nothing wrong with Eds tuning he is very capable also carries a great reputation so either way you are in good hands if i had the chance to get a dyno tune i would feel better

to be honest i have never heard of Ion, but i know who Ed Wright is! Ed is very good and very helpful. My car was throwing a code and couldnt figure out what it was exactly and so i called Ed and within a 2 minute phone call had it all figured out. i know that after i build my 396 stroker my car is going to Ed to be tuned, and any LT1 car i own after that will too.

Both offer email tunes, but don't forget you have some very competent forum supporters here in PCMForLess too. Any one of the three will set you up right.

Ed has been doing amazing work on my cars for 10 years.
I've tried a few others over the years, but I always end up back in Ed's shop to have it done right.

What about ED's mail order tunes? I plan on havin an AKM cable and my own tunin/data logging software.

Eventually I will have wideband A/F logs as well.

I think either of these guys will do a great job honestly, but still wrestlin with the question of who to use lol.

If I was closer to Tulsa I would use Ed no doubt, because I would get tuned on the dyno, but it looks like I'll be relegated to mail order tunes and makin minor corrections on my own.

I know for a fact you can not go wrong with Ed Wright but you are going to have your own tuning software and plan on adjusting it to your specifications then all you need is a starting point. So really any of Ed, Ion, or PCMforless will give you one hell of a start.

This is how I classifiy these three tuners.
PCMforless and Ion are great mail order tuners for bolt ons and small applications
Ed Wright is for big applications cams, heads, turbos, and superchargers JMO

Well the car has a PCMforless tune in it right now, but they're not even camaro tables according to Ion.... LMAO

So I think I would rather start with Ed or Ion and get a baseline.

I would tell them my mods and let them tune it to the best of their ability, I just dont know if they are going to get it dead nuts on with the elevation I'm at, but I bet they'll be close and I can send them logs and let them update it.

I'd rather really not get into programming it heavily myself, too much of a learning curve for me to feel I'm doing it "right". I have no doubt in my ability to do so, but it would be foolish to think I can do as good of a job as someone with much much more experience than me.

The only asset I have is time, so I dont mind "tweaking", but definitely want a GOOD baseline tune to start with.

Where do you live? Ed does good mail-order tunes, but really shines when the car is on the dyno (I'm sure such is the case with most tuners). It might be worth the drive if its something fairly radical. Either way, with Ed, you get the very high-quality tune. He pays alot of attention to detail and will tune a car as if whatever you've done to it is the way it rolled off the assembly line.
