Hey guys/gals. Some of you may recognise my s/n from some other boards. Im posting it here in the appearance misc forum, for one theres not really anyplace for interior stuff on this board, and it somewhat fits the appearance bill as well. Any ways, I know most of you guys dont have what some would call a "quiet" car.... neither do I and to be honest I was getting a lil tired of the noise. Conversations were short, at best. Phone calls were pretty much out the window. So that got me thinking... What can I do as far as sound barriers that wont break the bank.

After talking it over with a friend Brian at TSC ( Triangle Specialty Coatings) I decided to pick up a few gallons of a DIY kit AL's Liner. Some of you may or may not have heard of it. Its pretty much the same as a spray in bed liner but with rubber chunk mixed in for more sound deadening properties.

Anyways heres a few shots of what Ive done.

One of the best things about it is it can be 100% hidden if you choose, and the ride quility is much better simply because theres no more ehaust resonance inside the car, road noise is cut in half and its actually nice to have a conversation in the car with out having to say "what?" and "I cant hear you" anymore. Total weight added to the car was only 13lbs using 2 gallons.

Its a great quality kit that comes with the spray gun, hopper, and 2 gallons of DIY AL's liner in your color of choice.

im guessing those z28 badges are pointless lol.I MIGHT add some sound deadening insulation before i put my new carpet in, but thats a big might, i like it loud

One down fall to dynamat is the price. This stuff is a sound barrier as well as a rust barrier. Something you cant get from a glued on fiber insulator. As for the Z28 badges, those were only on for a few moments.

I like an agressive sounding car, but not while im having a conversation or on the phone. Its nice and loud outside, but quiet on the inside.

It cost me around $150 for the kit I bought with 2 gallons.

The seats I would sell for $400 + shipping OBO, but I'm gonna need a set to replace these. Willing to trade as well. What ya got?

I wanted to do something like this but I wondered if it will be smelly in the summer after the car has sat in a parking lot for a few hours. And I wonder if it will get tacky?

It sets up in 2 hours, you can replace the carpet in 24 hours and you can put bricks on it in 72 hours if you want to ride bricks around. Once it cures it won't tack up. Its very similar to a bed liner but with rubber crumb added. For the first few days it will smell like a laquir. I left my car with the doors and trunk open for the first 2-3 days and didn't have any problem.
