I have a 96 f-body LT1 engine with a 93 ECM and harness to put in my 55 chevy. I have a 95 timing cover, a reluctor and crank hub that came with the 96 engine. I want to get rid of the reluctor because I don't need it.
I don't want to put a 96/97 timing cover with the crank sensor as my 93 ECM does not support it and I don't want to plug the hole(and I don't currently have a 96/97 timing cover).
I can go to Pick'n Pull and get a 95 crank hub (slightly longer that the 96/97 hub because it had no reluctor between it and the crank sprocket), grind off the piece of the crank key that currently sticks out to hold the reluctor, and put the 95 hub on. Will any 95 hub do(say from an impala or non f-body car)?
Will this work and give me the correct alignment for the crank pulley?
Thanks
