Hello, I have a 94 Camaro and I am curious to know what the group does for good wheel hub replacements. GM wants something like 450 a side, but you can get Japan made hubs from AutoZone for like 100 bucks a side. Is there some middle ground or is there the the ability to convert to a rebuildable hub style? I do a few road courses and the hubs take a beating.
Thanks for your time

Those AutoZone hubs are fine as long as you get the Timken's. They carry some kind of warranty are for the price can't really be beat.

From reading over at frrax.com (fbody road racing & autox forum) when tearing down the Timkens they are not distinguishable from the factory hubs and it is believed they are the exact same. If you need to retain ABS provisions, the Timken is the best you're going to get without plopping down considerably more. There is a truly upgraded, serviceable/rebuildable hub available that also retains ABS but you're going to have to plop down 1300 plus 2 core hubs or 200 core charge, plus shipping for a pair of them. If you're doing Road Courses and are having to replace hubs pretty often, or are running 315's up front or have plans to run something that wide or near it, these would definitely be worth a look. You can find the R&D thread that took place over a couple years on these over at frrax that's a really great read to see what's in them and why they are what they are from start to finish. There is also a thread with the final info and cost in the Advertiser Sales forum over there (thread titled "Rebuildable 4th gen front hubs are here" by user 00 SS) You will have to create an acct. if you don't have one to view the forum. If you're doing road courses and are not signed up there, sign up even if you aren't interested in reading about these hubs, there is a TON of excellent information on that site. Good group of people there.
If you don't need to retain ABS, you can find one or two other upgraded, rebuildable offerings over there somewhere but I don't remember what the cost was.
