View Full Version : I have question on o2's
This from another site but I am not sure on the knowledge over there.
But I do know there are some smart guys over here :P
Thread is here (http://www.camaroforums.com/m_238886/tm.htm)
Question is
Will just cutting your rear O2's off. Not tuning for no rear O2's or putting dummies in, Will it hurt performace?

Will NOT hurt performance. Merely throw a SES light for rear O2 circuit and Catalyst inefficiency.

all that rear o2 sensers do is moniter the efficiancy of your cat. It will throw an SES light, but you can make your own o2 simulators, or get it tuned to get rif of the SES light.

I agree with both It will just throw a code and get the ses light to come on. I would tune for it just incase you throw another code. can never be to careful

Good point, you definitely dont want that "stupid" code that you know about blocking something really important from being seen.

Alot of times, I know when people run no cats you can buy spark plug anti-foulers that thread in the o2 bung and raise the o2 out of the exhaust stream which tricks the pcm into thinking the cat is there and working, and will let the car not throw codes and not run in limp mode. (I had to do this on a buddies eclipse)

Had a Ford product a few years back, have a failed post cat 02, it failed low, and the computer drove up the fueling to try and get it to react. I've actually seen this more than once.
IIRC, I saw a LS1 Camaro do the same, but my memory on that one is a bit vague.
I'm certain on the Ford products though.
