.....hey guys, I have a question. I have a '94 Trans Am. It's got power everything. My question is....does it also have keyless entry? Or was that an option too? How could I tell if it does? Thanks for any help, in advance.

Im sure there is some way to tell on the car, but I also be you could go to the dealership and ask them using the VIN number. They can get you a key with the vin so im sure they can get you the keyless entry thingy to.

....think so, huh? Think I could do it over the phone? Even if I'm not the original owner? Security reasons and such, ya know?

you would have to bring proof of ownership to get that info.....try and if you do get it that dealership is retarted.

If you have the title or even an insurance card with your name on it will work.

.....yeah, that's kinda what I thought. I have proof, but I guess the phone wouldn't be a great idea....lol.

Check your RPO codes . There should be a list in your glove box (big white sticker). Mines a 95 & the RPO is AUO , not sure if 94 is the same RPO. If you do have the code, just get some fob off ebay and program it , its pretty easy to do.

.....I'm pretty sure it is the same RPO, but my code label is gone. I know how to program another fob, but just not sure if my car actually has the keyless entry option. :secret:

.....hey, thanks for the help guys. I looked behind the kick panel, and there's no reciever box there, just an empty space, where it could be...lol. I guess my hot-rod just didn't come with the keyless entry option. At least I know now. Thanks again.

If you have power locks you can pick up a keyless entry fob for it and program it yourself. It's a piece of cake, the instructions are on shoebox's website. Took me 15 seconds to do.

I dont want to get off topic, but could a thief program a keyless entry fob and get into my car when it is locked???

Bringing up an old thread............

I am in the same position as Darkside is/was. I also do not have the receiver box. Is the receiver box installed easily? Or would the better bet be to install an after market system with an alarm/door/trunk key fob?

Thanks

It would be cheaper with a stock set up. Plus like he said, the instructions are on shoebox. But if you are thinking of a remote start to go along with it, or security system, go aftermarket.
