If anybody has can they let me know what is the best paint to use...PR-15, pray on bed liner, reguler black spray paint, etc... I'm tired of them looking dull and dirty in pictures and in the light. Thanks

I cleaned mine with purple power and then in the back I used the blue can of truck bed liner coating, i think it's dupont brand from advanced/auto zone. then in the front i just cleaned the crap outta them then armor-all ed them.

armor-all isn't a bad idea... I bet the crud doesn't stick to it nearly as easily.

I sell a rubberized coating through work that would work well.

I have black and white. It comes out thin like paint and smooth, no texture like truck bed liner. Would give it a smooth look where truckbed liner gives it a rough dull look.

I have one customer who uses it in place of 3M undercoating spray (which would also work pretty good).

anybody have any pictures of their work.

I think I'm going to the the rhinoliner, to help prevent rust on the quarters.

For the rear wells you can probably use the rhinoliner, and when it gets dirty spray off the road grime and then armor-all it too, for some shine.

I am going to use rubberized undercoating on mine in a month or so. Since I'm not lowering it anytime soon ;)

I never realized how expensive that undercoating stuff is man.
I sprayed the trunk of my 68 Firebird, and like 2 cans was almost 25 bucks

Yea the rubberized undercoating is pretty expensive for a can but it works damn good. I just have some cans left over from my unfinished 78' project I figure I'll use them on my rear wheel wells and rear axle to cover up that rusty rear axle. maybe get an aluminum diff cover when I put in 3.42's too would look nice.

Clean 'em good, let them dry and then get in there with a can of tire foam.

I just finished painting mine with POR-15. Going to go back through after the engine is installed and the car is back on the ground and paint with chassis saver to make sure the UV light doesn't screw up the paint.

Can't really tell too much with the rims back on:

But it does match the rest of the undercarriage! Went through two pints of POR-15. :D

don't you love how freakin expensive that stuff is? i did a good majority of my engine bay with it to cut down on the chance of rust and what not...what a drain on the wallet...lol.

Bwahahaha yeah, definitely. I spent $200 getting the whole 9 yards and ended up not using most of it.

...I'll even admit, I spilled 1/4th of a pint all over the floor and basically welded a piece of cardboard and one of the horizontal tires that the rear is sitting on (the bottom tire in the pic, but on the passenger side) right to the floor. I had to take a crowbar to both to get them off the floor.

But it's definitely worth it, too, that's for sure. I had some really bad rust on both inner wheel wells [you can see the hole in the first pic] and after I went over it with POR15 it's rock hard.

Have you tried some simple green? You'd be surprised how well they will clean up.

I just did mine recently. Used the Dupli-Color "Professional Undercoat and Sound Eliminator." I think it runs around $7 a can at Kragen. It sprayed on in minutes. I have used it in the past, and it's just as easy to touch up with some gloss black Rustoleum if it starts to fade.
